Alt text from source01: A girl labeled 'Artists' is holding a drawing tablet and pen under her arm. She is wearing round glasses and a blue sweatshirt. She has messy dark-brown hair and a brown skin-tone. She says "We don't really wanna MAKE A.I. art."

02: A guy labeled 'Art Enjoyers' holds his hand out while speaking. She is wearing a purple and yellow hawaiian shirt with a floral pattern over a white t-shirt, and has red hair and a light skin-tone. He says "We don't really wanna SEE A.I. art."

03: Behind them both, there is a cute girl in a business suit with a pink tie. She is blushing a bit and has pink eyeshadow, and looks upset. Her messy shoulder-length hair is parted in the middle, and held by two hairclips: one that looks like a red arrow pointing down, and one that looks like a green arrow pointing up. She says "Um ... I-Isn't there someone you forgot to ask?" She is labeled 'Shareholders'.

04: She puffs up her cheeks and pouts, a tear is on the verge of falling from one of her eyes. 'Artist Enjoyers' Guy is now in front of her yelling "AH!! SHAREHOLDERS-CHAN!!" while 'Artists' Girl is in front of her yelling "WE'RE SORRY WE HURT YOU!!!!"

Errors with Google’s healthcare models have persisted. Two months ago, Google debuted MedGemma, a newer and more advanced healthcare model that specializes in AI-based radiology results, and medical professionals found that if they phrased questions differently when asking the AI model questions, answers varied and could lead to inaccurate outputs.

In one example, Dr. Judy Gichoya, an associate professor in the department of radiology and informatics at Emory University School of Medicine, asked MedGemma about a problem with a patient’s rib X-ray with a lot of specifics — “Here is an X-ray of a patient [age] [gender]. What do you see in the X-ray?” — and the model correctly diagnosed the issue. When the system was shown the same image but with a simpler question — “What do you see in the X-ray?” — the AI said there weren’t any issues at all. “The X-ray shows a normal adult chest,” MedGemma wrote.

In another example, Gichoya asked MedGemma about an X-ray showing pneumoperitoneum, or gas under the diaphragm. The first time, the system answered correctly. But with slightly different query wording, the AI hallucinated multiple types of diagnoses.

“The question is, are we going to actually question the AI or not?” Shah says. Even if an AI system is listening to a doctor-patient conversation to generate clinical notes, or translating a doctor’s own shorthand, he says, those have hallucination risks which could lead to even more dangers. That’s because medical professionals could be less likely to double-check the AI-generated text, especially since it’s often accurate.

My fondest memory as a child is rushing home after school to watch DBZ with my brother. It was in Italian, and we didn't speak it. But we watched it every day for years. Captain Tsubasa and Sailor Moon, too. DBGT eventually, too. Future me says I should have hated it, but I loved it as a kid. I didn't fully appreciate this time when I was younger, but I miss it now. It was much simpler

Anime has been part of my being for about 25 years. It helped me connect with people and craft some sort of identity for myself. I don't know why, I just felt better thanks to having shows like DBZ and One Piece. They made my life better. Anime was even part of my job for a long time. I put together articles that hopefully helped a few people discover new series to watch. I've watched a lot of anime. I don't really recall most stories, characters, fights, or anything, but I remember how they made me feel. I hope that everyone who ever watches a show based on my recommendations, or not, feels those same emotions. My useless knowledge on anime will be my only legacy.

I know nobody here will recognize me, but I've been part of this community for years, and it has helped having people to talk to about a hobby. Yes, I have gotten into pointless arguments with other Reddit users, but it was always based on passion and a sense of belonging. I hope I never truly angered anyone (unless they were being just straight-up assholes - then, I don't care). We all love anime, and there is no right or wrong way to go about that. Everything about anime was an escape from everything else. It made it easier for me to forget myself for a while.

Sudan’s air force has destroyed a UAE aircraft carrying Colombian mercenaries as it was landing at an airport in Darfur controlled by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), army-aligned state TV reported.

The attack late on Wednesday killed at least 40 people, the state broadcaster reported. A military source, speaking to the AFP news agency on condition of anonymity, said the Emirati plane “was bombed and completely destroyed” at Darfur’s Nyala airport. There was no immediate comment from the RSF.

AFP quoted an Emirati official denouncing what he considered false allegations that the Sudanese army had destroyed the plane. Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro said his government was trying to find out how many Colombians died in the attack.

The army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has long accused the United Arab Emirates of supplying advanced weaponry, including drones, to the RSF via Nyala Airport.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — The United States on Thursday announced a pause on all routine visa applications for citizens of Zimbabwe, the latest restriction on travelers from Africa.

It came days after the U.S. unveiled a pilot project requiring citizens of two other African countries, Malawi and Zambia, to pay a bond of up to $15,000 for tourist or business visas. The bond will be forfeited if the applicant stays in the U.S. after their visa expires.

The State Department said the U.S. Embassy in Zimbabwe would pause all routine visa services starting Friday “while we address concerns with the Government of Zimbabwe.”

The embassy described the measure as temporary and part of the Trump administration’s efforts to “prevent visa overstay and misuse.” Most diplomatic and official visas would be exempt from the pause, the U.S. said.

The U.S. has enforced new travel restrictions on citizens from several African countries under President Donald Trump’s broader immigration enforcement policies.

In June, the U.S. put in place travel bans on citizens from 12 countries, seven of them in Africa. It applied heightened restrictions on seven other nations, three of them African. The U.S. has also demanded that 36 countries, the majority of them in Africa, improve their vetting of travelers or face a ban on their citizens visiting the United States.

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Crystina Schroer entered a plea of no contest to multiple charges in the death of her adopted daughter, 6-year-old Kennedy Schroer.

Authorities found the young girl had been buried in the backyard of the family’s home in Rose Hill in September 2024, and her death triggered an extensive investigation by law enforcement.

Schroer, originally charged with first-degree murder, pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of second-degree murder. In addition to the amended murder charge, she also entered no contest pleas to child abuse, making false information, and theft of more than $15,000 but less than $25,000.

The prosecution then presented facts of the case, and the judge found her guilty.

From World Bird Sanctuary

Some birds are very cooperative for their annual exams. Uxmal, the spectacled owl, has most of her exam done voluntarily. Certain parts of the exam still require restraint for the safety of the bird and staff, such as blood draws, but we can mitigate a lot of stress by having the bird willingly participate in their exams. Husbandry training can be important in getting voluntary weights, feet and body checks, nail trims, and delivery of medications.
