Grew up watching things like Freeman's Mind, and Red vs Blue (their channel is locked behind some kind of 'join' thing... wtf...), WoW Machinimas... More recently I saw Neeb's Subnautica series and it's a pretty solid step up in quality compared to what I'm otherwise familiar with. I've burned through their content, and am seeking more! ...and the Subnautica stuff looks like Neeb's only content that follows this format - the rest of their channel is 'let's play' videos. Boo.

Anyway, nursing student here! ...it's melting my brain. I don't trust my time-management skills to actually fire up any games right now - the addiction is real, and I'll fuck up my grades; but the 'itch' is also real, so I'm trying to find something to give that gaming fix, but in little short bursts so I don't one-more-level my way out of the program.

Study up, give my brain a nice 10-20 min break, then get back to it.

Not really picky on the game or genre, just looking for something in-character. YouTube is absolutely STUFFED with videos of people just playing games, but hardly any focused on delivering an actual story. Or rather, I'm sure it's there, it's just lost in a sea of low quality slop. Could also be that I just don't know the right key search term ("machinima" doesn't seem to really be a thing anymore, and I'm not sure what else to call it).

Any recommendations on picking out the gems?

For me common spelling mistakes include confusing some of these word pairs.

I was dating my coworker for about two months until one day she decided to pull a baby joke on me. I was 20, and she was 29. Everything was completely fine before this. She hopped off of me (we went all the way) and smiled at me with a somewhat evil look, saying, "In 3 months, you'll get the notice." I looked at her, scared, trying to ask if she was joking, and she said, "Yes," but I still didn't believe her.

We had a bad moment; she immediately ended the sex, and I dropped her off at home. This really freaked me out because on the first time we had sex, she took off my condom without permission and then said, when I didn't want to go all the way, "You don't trust me?" Additionally, the date we had planned for the week, she canceled without saying anything, and then didn't text me the entire day. When I tried to call her, she hung up on me twice and didn't call me back until the next afternoon.

She made my life a complete hell after all of this. She would hold me up if I asked her out on a date; she would be the one to initiate. I couldn't ask directly; I could only mention it. By the way, she is Latina and did say to me that she was toxic. I got so scared after that incident that I even called an old coworker to ask if she had her citizenship because I was trying to avoid child support. Unfortunately, this coworker backstabbed me and called her.

She freaked out on me, saying it was just a joke and that I needed to "be a man." A simple "sorry" from her would have gone a million miles, but she couldn't even do that. I was so freaked out that I was planning on killing myself that week. We talked things through after a couple of days, and she wanted to take me out on a date again, but I just didn't trust her anymore. My gut was telling me no, especially when I asked to use her phone to make a phone call, and she got all jumpy, saying she had to call insurance.

At that point, I decided to secretly end the relationship. I started playing dumb until she eventually left. But am I wrong for dumping her? Obviously, I am 99% sure she was cheating on me and using me. She was very nice though, only up till when we would go on dates, she would play super hard to get, her friends even let me know this, so I don't know if this was some fucked up game she was playing or if she was really just cheating. We only had sex twice and she was my first ever date with a woman.

Also, she held me up for 2 months, didn't text for over a month and barely talked to me at work, and then got upset on her last day on why I didn't want to get back with her. She ended up completing her joke by leaving after 3 months. Another coworker (different), I told him the situation, still freaked out, and he said that he saw her and she's not pregnant. I literally told him that he saved me from a year of pain

What the title says, basically. On reddit there's r/cassetteculture but for the moment I can't find anything like that on lemmy. Would be nice to have a community like this here! If there isn't one, should I create it? I don't have that much experience with moderating or hosting communities, so I'm not sure about it at the moment...

If AI ends up running companies better than people, won’t shareholders demand the switch? A board isn’t paying a CEO $20 million a year for tradition, they’re paying for results. If an AI can do the job cheaper and get better returns, investors will force it.

And since corporations are already treated as “people” under the law, replacing a human CEO with an AI isn’t just swapping a worker for a machine, it’s one “person” handing control to another.

That means CEOs would eventually have to replace themselves, not because they want to, but because the system leaves them no choice. And AI would be considered a "person" under the law.

I am not from America and lives in Europe. I am trying to understand what life and values the republicans in office right now wants for America. Is the 50's America the kind of country they hope to go back to or is it somewhat of a new state we have never seen before?

I am genuinely wondering if they have some kind of "utopian" community in mind doing all these changes to the economy and values.

I often have downtime and dont have my book with me. What's some of your favorite sites to do some reading/learning?

Not that it matters now, but I’m curious. I don’t know if I was popular. I had a lot of friends in middle school and I would say I did in high school too, but a lot less people knew me as the middle school I went to was smaller.

I (22M, heterosexual) am interested in a sensual and affectionate form of intimacy involving purely oral stimulation. My desire is entirely centered on kissing and being kissed as a way to exchange love and pleasure (with oral sex being an extension of kissing). It is so hot to me that it is genuinely all I want, and penetrative forms of sex do not interest me. (Due to medical issues, they also might not work super well at this point.)

I have never had a sexual partner because I was raised with a traditional model of intimacy in which an active male partner penetrates a passive female partner. Since my desires did not fit this framework, I never tried to even date anyone, believing that the type of intimacy I wanted - one in which both partners took turns giving and receiving oral pleasure - was impossible. At least, not without having to participate in an activity that didn't arouse me.

I am not nearly as ignorant as I was back then, but I would like to know if there is a general dating strategy to efficiently narrow things down to women who aren't interested in or don't require penetrative sex.

Does anyone know of someone in a similar situation who found a compatible partner regardless? If so, how did they do it?

I'm especially thinking of some bizzare foreign horror movies that didn't make sense to me and I figure there's gotta be some from my own (US) culture that just make 0 sense outside of the context of having been raised in this culture.

What environments do you associate them with?

I recently rewatched Army of Darkness for the first time in forever and I was so charmed by all the practical effects. The eyeball in the shoulder still gets me lol. Practical effects aside, the whole movie was a lot of campy silly fun. It's just a gem of a movie.

I've pretty much hit rock bottom and come to the conclusion that I can't stay on my current trajectory. It's already cost me one, if not two, relationships, and I'm tired of dating on hard mode. I'm worried I might be too far gone, so it would be immensely helpful to hear from someone who's been in the same place and managed to turn things around.

I can manage a week or two with the power of self loathing but once the urges come back I'm really, and I mean really good at coming up with excuses.

In years prior there were a lot of games and a shifting understanding of what hardware they can require. While gfx needs changed rapidly, hard drive space requirements went up steadily, predictably. As most of us have long abandoned physical media sales and use digital downloads instead, this number has stopped to be defined by the medium's capacity.

Before and now we had outliers like MMORPGs and movie-like games requiring more estate, while other games like Deep Rock Galactic needing just 4GBs, but there always was some number of gigabytes you as a consumer thought a new game would take.

Where's that sweet spot now for you?

For me, it's 60GB, or a 40-80GB range. Something less or more than that causes questions and assumptions. I have a lot of space, but I'd probably decline if some game would exceed 2x of my norm or 120GB of storage.
