Imagine turning in your son, or convincing him to turn himself in, and then the president immediately says they will seek the death penalty.

John 3:16 (don't worry the dad has two more sons, they're mormons).

trump said that they'd seek the death penalty for the shooter a few hours after kirk was initially pronounced dead. this was out in the open for at least a day. the dad knew.

[–] XxFemboy_Stalin_420_69xX@hexbear.net 35 points 2 days ago (1 children)

he turned himself in? pathetic doesn't even begin to describe it. how could anyone feel remorse after merking somebody who deserves it as much as charlie kirk?

That's because this guy went to the police to clear his name, not to turn himself in. The idea that he turned himself in after all of that makes 0 sense.

Every minute that they keep the name secret (apparently arrested last night per some reports) is a minute the FBI is sweeping all his right wing ties right under the rug

If it's not a groyper or an ambiguously right wing guy with indescribable politics (average American basically) then I don't believe

[–] zipper@hexbear.net 54 points 2 days ago (1 children)

i'm gonna play the devil's advocate here and say that they're genuinely trying to confirm if the guy is actually the shooter. they already fucked up twice so it makes sense that they'd wait before making the name public. although i don't doubt that if he's got non-left ties then they'd be conveniently forgotten like with the trump shooter.

[–] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 30 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The funny thing is the second "attempted" shooter (who didn't even shoot as far as I remember) was a lib! He's super pro-Ukrainian and pissed that Trump rhetorically wasn't supporting them. Something like that. I don't remember all the shit.

But yeah. I just don't trust any of these guys. It being a far right wing state overall plus the current FBI leadership plus Trump and all the frothing hogs demanding blood. They have every incentive to make shit up and zero to tell inconvenient truths after they spent like two days jacking off to all the mass executions of libs they want to do next week

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 32 points 2 days ago

Man that dude really should’ve just shut the fuck up. The only evidence he was trying to shoot the president is that he said he was trying to do so.

Brother was walking around south Florida with a gun, that’s not a crime! Until you fired a shot you had plausible deniability. Lie, and shut the fuck up. Repeat after me: “I’m expressing my second amendment right to open carry”

I'm thinking it's more like they're just figuring out how to make someone who obviously isn't the shooter into the shooter.

IMO it's fairly likely they had figured out his identity by yesterday. Not guaranteed, but likely. They didn't release it because they also knew it would be disastrous if it was a groyper and he got away with it, so they decided to withhold the information from public release and find someone who looked close enough.

If they didn't have his identity by yesterday, then they would've come to the same conclusion. They couldn't let it go unpunished so it was time to find some random person who looks close enough (bonus points if it isn't a right winger).

I'm saying this because Trump is apparently saying this person either turned themselves in or got turned in by someone close to them (father?), which makes 0 sense.

luigi got snitched on by a maccas worker, nothing is too out there in this day and age

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 42 points 2 days ago (5 children)

I’m still not convinced Luigi killed that dude to be quite honest, I kinda still think he’s a patsy.

He looks completely different from the guy in the security footage, who also looks completely different from the guy in the Uber.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 23 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Most solid part of the case against Luigi is the goodreads review of the Unabomber manifesto. I find it much easier to believe the second gun and manifesto are planted than to believe he would plan the assassination so well then bungle the escape and still be in the country a couple of days later.

The reality of condemning 'political violence' in this world simply means you're submitting others to political violence. Can't wait for the snitch to be annoyed they didn't receive their money.

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 31 points 2 days ago

Vaguely related, I did a "All Lives Matter" Uno reverse to an All Lives Matter acquaintance over Kirk's death. He was all about "All Lives Matter", now he's saying political violence is bad. I replied "Actually, all violence is bad"

[–] zipper@hexbear.net 28 points 2 days ago

political violence only matters when it's your side being attacked. there is no compromise to be had with people that want your rights gone.

Cox says that investigators interviewed Robinson's roommate, who showed them messages between him and an account with the name "Tyler" on the messaging app Discord.

The messages from "Tyler" stated the need to retrieve a rifle from a drop point, leaving it in a bush, watching an area where the rifle was left and having left the weapon wrapped in a towel, Cox says.

Well that wasn't a wise choice.

[–] zipper@hexbear.net 47 points 2 days ago (1 children)

genuinely the biggest fucking dumbass of all time WHY would you tell anyone about shit like this???

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 39 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not writing a detailed confession to your crime unprompted on social media challenge - Difficulty Level: Couldn't be easier!

[–] zipper@hexbear.net 27 points 2 days ago

I SWEAR DUDE just get off social media NOBODY is forcing you to tell anyone about the things you're doing

[–] T34_69@hexbear.net 36 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fuck that roommate though WTF

[–] Clippy@hexbear.net 36 points 2 days ago (2 children)

parents were catalyst for arrest - tyler made a bunch comments that made them suspect he was the shooter, the parents also are right wingers so shrug-outta-hecks

I'm just surprised people actually give a shit about Charlie Kirk.

[–] NewAcctWhoDis@hexbear.net 28 points 2 days ago

I think a lot of it is "it could be me next"

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago

I'd imagine a lot less people probably would if the entire MSM hadn't been fellating his image for the last two days

To be fair, this is also what Trump would say if they picked up any random person off the street. They want to publicly execute someone and make a big performance of it, and they’ll do it all the same whether they find the person who did it or not.

Lol the Guardian is reporting trump as saying that a cop (or cop-related position) knew the suspect and the suspect's dad convinced him to go to the police. Sounds like a look-alike trying to clear his name is about to get thrown in the den of lions. Poor guy.

Edit: seems to just be another person completely incapable of running away lol. Went home to his dad and then turned himself in? What brainworms have infected this kid?

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 38 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I can't process how absurdly naive you have to be to do that.

Here's a 1 minute snippet of Trump's interview with Fox

A church minister, who works with law enforcement, got the suspect's farther to convince him to turn himself in, or something along those lines.

On the plus side it can't have been anyone from Hexbear because I don't think anyone here is stupid enough to talk about their plans for doing something like this over Discord.

Speaking on Fox & Friends, Trump says "someone very close" to the suspect turned him in.

Oh boy. Remember how the entire country had a bloodlust for foreigners right after 9/11? Prepare for that, but for every American to feel this way about left leaning people

This has to be a psyop
