Imagine turning in your son, or convincing him to turn himself in, and then the president immediately says they will seek the death penalty.

I don’t disagree with anything you said, really, except I think it is true that a lot of regular (non-media) working class people, “leftist” or not, are not watching this stuff because they have been kept from it and also lack curiosity. I have canvassed in the US and literally had people tell me that “If Israel had done anything like you described, it would be all over CNN” … I think there is another subset of people who are vaguely aware but choose not to look, either because they have busy lives and they already feel helpless, or they simply believe that they can “imagine” it is bad and they don’t need to see it. I think racism really modulates it either way

He just died? Wow. I didn't know that. You're telling me now for the first time. He led an amazing life. What else can you say? He was an amazing guy. Whether you agreed or not, He was an amazing guy who led an amazing life. I'm actually saddened to hear that. I am sadden to hear that. Thank you very much. trump-anguish

If Russia can come up with a good counter to fiber optic drones, we could very soon see the return of big arrow maneuver warfare

but couldn’t the salaries of an additional 12 million people help drive domestic consumption? Couldn't that labor be used towards productive ends that aren’t necessarily towards exporting commodities? couldn’t they provide domestic services or additional public works? art? entertainment?

There is a lot to doom over, but the base of the movement that Evo started still exists and was able essentially shut down much of the country during the coup. I have a feeling they could still fight back and win

weren’t the Tamil Tigers revolutionary socialists? the civil war ended in their defeat, but i haven’t heard of anarchists doing anything or having any influence in the conflict or after. maybe that is my own ignorance

I think it is mostly just thinly veiled language appealing to Vietnamese anti-chinese sentiment… I think it is mostly inaccurate, but the argument could be made that the USSR had such a close economic relationship with Cuba it was essentially on the Soviet “side” during the split- and when the USSR abandoned Cuba to try and ingratiate itself with the US, China did not step in to provide support for decades because they were also concerned with their own US relationship… I think it is largely inaccurate because China’s capacity to “replace” the USSR’s relationship with Cuba, regardless of sanction or blockade, was very limited. China had (and probably continues to have) a limited ability to project its power to the Caribbean. The Soviet Union had relatively more direct access to warm water ports closer to the Atlantic. Through most of New China’s history its power projection and concerns have really been limited to Africa/Indian Ocean/SEA/the western Pacific/South China Sea

I get what you are saying and agree mostly, however I think it is important to understand that war is generally deeply unpopular with working class people (who aren’t fascists and/or settlers with reactionary brainworms) and fundamentally, communism is the anti-war perspective. It is true that anti-imperlialist wars and wars of liberation ultimately serve the anti-war cause, but the people fighting and dying on both sides will be the working class- and unlike other systems, Socialist power and authority ultimately is rooted in the opinions of the masses… not to mention the toll the entire world pays from nuclear holocaust. The US unfortunately had unchallenged nuclear arms for a few critically important years. The first open conflict between the socialist world and capitalist class after WW2, The US war in Korea, for example, began a little less than a year after the Soviet Union got the bomb, and we don’t really know what would have happened if the USSR got atomic weapons later or not at all. Would the DPRK even exist?
