i'm gonna play the devil's advocate here and say that they're genuinely trying to confirm if the guy is actually the shooter. they already fucked up twice so it makes sense that they'd wait before making the name public. although i don't doubt that if he's got non-left ties then they'd be conveniently forgotten like with the trump shooter.

The funny thing is the second "attempted" shooter (who didn't even shoot as far as I remember) was a lib! He's super pro-Ukrainian and pissed that Trump rhetorically wasn't supporting them. Something like that. I don't remember all the shit.

But yeah. I just don't trust any of these guys. It being a far right wing state overall plus the current FBI leadership plus Trump and all the frothing hogs demanding blood. I'm thinking it's more like they're just figuring out how to make someone who obviously isn't the shooter into the shooter.

IMO it's fairly likely they had figured out his identity by yesterday. Not guaranteed, but likely. They didn't release it because they also knew it would be disastrous if it was a groyper and he got away with it, so they decided to withhold the information from public release and find someone who looked close enough.

If they didn't have his identity by yesterday, then they would've come to the same conclusion. They couldn't let it go unpunished so it was time to find some random person who looks close enough (bonus points if it isn't a right winger).

I'm saying this because Trump is apparently saying this person either turned themselves in or got turned in by someone close to them (father?), which makes 0 sense.

Most solid part of the case against Luigi is the goodreads review of the Unabomber manifesto. I find it much easier to believe the second gun and manifesto are planted than to believe he would plan the assassination so well then bungle the escape and still be in the country a couple of days later.

I agree that it's possible the super advanced surveillance systems that Palantir et al have could've been used to find him and Luigi did do it, but then that goes into the parallel construction theory, that the evidence was still planted to solidify a case (especially when the evidence actually utilized to find the subject is inadmissible for some reason).

I'm not saying that they got the right guy, I'm saying that the way they use these AI systems to find patsys makes it very believable since the immediately available information will make them look guilty. You then just plant extra evidence until it's "undeniable".

Same way chatGPT is always plausibly correct at first glance.

I remember noting how horrible the journalistic malpractice was when Luigi was arrested and they were constantly using "the suspect" instead of "the shooter" or "the perpetrator." Like, "the suspect shot at Thompson" kinds of sentences were so common when Luigi got taken into custody.

That's more believable (and I still think it was parallel construction IF it was Luigi) than the possibility that this shooter went home to his scrupulous dad after the most high profile assassination in American politics in quite a few years, and decided to comply with whoever was turning him in.

The non-caffeine Mormons are crazy as fuck. I worked with one a long time ago. He was always super chipper and overall a "nice guy." But there's something so unsettling about them. Every practicing Mormon I've ever met there's just something off.

I saw that same guy at the gym one time at one of the bench presses. He didn't have headphones on or anything. Still in his work clothes (blue collar stuff. Covered in oil and dirt). He just loads three plates on the bar, slides under, reps that shit, then sits there resting and does it again. No music. No phone between sets. Just like nodding to himself. Wild shit.
