Once upon a time, I thought I saw a guide where yt-dlp can work with CR but for the life of me I can’t find it. Does anyone know if it still works? I have a premium subscription and would like to make sure I still have access to some of my favorite shows should I move out of country.

There are already several posts on this topic, but I wanted to have a more up to date answer. The secure wifi uses my personal school account to sign in so that might not be the best idea, however the guest wifi is open to everyone so that may be a better idea. I also know to use a VPN and bind my torrenting client to the VPN. Anything else I should know? Or is the entire idea dead in the water? I've pirated before but never with several thousand dollars on the line...

Im old and only recall TPB for torrents. Also what are private trackers and how can i get in on that? I have a lot of potentially rare media to share as well and I wanna seed.

I realize the wiki may explain this but I didn't feel like digging.

The Block BEARD Site-Blocking Act, recently introduced to address foreign piracy in the United States, did not emerge from a vacuum. It is the result of a multi-year effort that began with a non-public proposal in 2022. This initial version became stranded when stakeholders were unable to reach an agreement, but remnants of the early proposal remain visible today.

Where do we find paywalled podcasts?

Around about 2013 Utorrent client had a group chat feature, I distinctly remember downloading a film near release and within the client fellow torrenters' where chatting, my then dyslexic ass cant recall the chat but given the date, most likely slurs.

I have a book in my Kobo library that I want to put in Calibre. When I try to download it on my computer or phone, all that downloads is a URLLink.acsm file. Anyone know what's going on?

In a major anti-piracy action against a Streameast-branded operation, ACE has shut down what it calls the world's largest illegal sports streaming ring. Conducted alongside Egyptian authorities, the operation dismantled a network of more than 80 domain names responsible for 1.6 billion visits in the past year. Interestingly, the original Streameast operation, previously targeted by U.S. authorities, remains online and claims it has no connection to the dismantled 'copycat'.

A coalition of media companies and Egyptian authorities announced Wednesday that they’d taken down live sports-focused piracy network Streameast, which they said had hosted 1.6 billion visits across 80 associated domains over the past year.

What the title basically says

A group of movie companies known for targeting ISPs in the U.S. went on to file a similar lawsuit against Bell Canada. They argued that since Bell failed to forward ~40,000 infringement notices to its subscribers, the ISP can be held liable. After a series of setbacks, the Federal Court of Appeal has thrown Bell a lifeline in lawsuit worth up to CAD$400m (US$291m) in damages.

¡I can't say that every song in that Serato™ playlist was paid for!

As the title says, I was wondering what the URL is for AudioBookBay. Is it the one that ends in ".lu" ?

Has anyone here checked the 3D live in the usopen.org page? https://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/

I must say I was impressed. It is not perfect, but if what you to want to watch is just the sport being played, it might very well meet your needs. Add a little sound to it and I could watch a whole tennis match that way.

That made me think how one could convert any sports event to 3D and stream it. I don't know how many cameras IBM uses for that 3D stream, but a handful of volunteers recording the game with their phones and uploading it to a server that would process it could, in theory, generate a 3D version of the match. Maybe even the cameras of the official stream itself could be enough to create this.

The best part of this is that the 3D stream would be untraceable. It can't be watermarked, it's just the movement of the players and the ball, nothing else. And it also would have a ridiculously low bit rate. You could watch a match in 4K using a 100 kbps stream. You could even customize the assets to remove ads and make the players wear the uniform of your choice.

I'm probably dreaming too much, but a man can dream, right?

This is such a great music service but I'm wondering who is behind it and why they provide it? It must be costing them something to host the site. Interesting that Cloudflare stats show its biggest user base is India.

Meta was recently sued for copyright infringement for training its "AI" (LLM) Llama with copyrighted works that it had expressed interest in licensing, but chose not to. The Judge ruled in favor of trillion-dollar company Meta and against book authors, citing Fair Use. This is particularly interesting to us given the recent Bloomberg DMCA aggression against GamersNexus and our own experiences with Fair Use, so we dug into it to learn more.

I recently downloaded this file from Audioz (I didn't run the exe, just extracted the rar.) Check out the comments, many people have run it through sandbox environments like any.run or hybrid analysis and gotten iffy results:

It looks like there are quite a few analysis services besides virustotal that are marking the file as malicious.

This is a popular upload on Audioz and is also listed directly on Team VR's website, so what gives? I thought Team VR was considered safe. Maybe someone experienced needs to look at their stuff a little more closely?

How do you guys continue seeding? I end up having to move files off my yarr pc drive and onto other drives or my nas because they get too big. I want to continue seeding anything I get though for a while.

Can yall recommend your favorite 3rd party Discord client (desktop) that enables the high quality screen sharing normally only available to Nitro subscribers? I found this list but there's quite a few options, so I don't know where to start

Edit: forgot to specify I’m mainly gonna be using it on Windows but Linux support is cool too

Telegram for Monkrus? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Came across 2 different telegrams for monkrus. His/her site here https://w16.monkrus.ws/ points to "real_monkrus" but the "m0nkrus" has an insane amount of people in it.

t.me/real_monkrus

t.me/m0nkrus

What is the "legit" way to find monkrus? Do they ever use PGP and how can I tell that a new site is also the same user? Both telegrams have different methods of donation, so it feels unlikely they're both real.

I won't blame these torrents, but I've recently gotten a state-actor-level type of malware and I'm double-checking everything that's been into my machine.

A pirate IPTV reseller investigated by Sky, who destroyed evidence and dissipated assets in violation of two High Court orders, has been found guilty of contempt of court. David Dunbar of Co Wexford, Ireland, operated 'IPTV is Easy' and according to him, generated nearly €500k in profits while doing so. Since that money is now owed to Sky, a judge at Ireland's High Court imposed a fine of €30,000 rather than a prison sentence, concluding that on balance, he'd suffered enough.
