Personally, I'm really keen on 5D optical data storage. It's extremely dense, and also incredibly robust - I've seen predictions of billion-year stability.

"The "5-dimensional" descriptor is for marketing purposes, since the device has 3 physical dimensions and no exotic higher dimensional properties. The fractal/holographic nature of its data storage is also purely 3-dimensional"

Good job they cleared that up.

When will we get real 5 Dimensional storage though! Wouldn't that increase storage density by the power of 5/3??? Omg my maths is getting bad.

Its really a interesting piece. Thanks!

DNA data density is amazing. I suspect read-write speeds will be a limiting factor for a while. The ability to electrochemical control single-base enzymatic additions seems promising though. Interested to see where it leads.
