Oh good, everyone just hates sex. Glad we're finally doing something about it.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sex took everything from me.

For most people its half of everything.

Sounds like one use-case of for same-sex couples to have biological children together. Which is pretty neat IMHO!

Not to say that the more macabre use cases don't exist, of course.

oh yeah that's super exciting, I was just making a silly joke

Great. Now the billionaire class can just make their lil workers en masse without any need for the plebs. What a fucking timeline.

We still need humans for nine months to carry them to term, but I won't be surprised if there are people looking into a technological "solution" to that.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 months ago

didnt they carry a lamb to term in an artificial womb already?

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

You ever see the movie 'Bone Tomahawk'? Anyone who's seen it will know exactly where your comment made my mind go. Go watch it at least for this context.

And raise the lil bastards.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago

The lil bastards yearn for the mines

[–] WarlordSdocy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Either a technological solution or paying people to carry the baby and then the company takes custody after that. Either way very dystopian.

It is exactly this. Leave it to Musk, Bezos, and Zuck to read these dystopian novels and think, "Wow, what a beautiful future. Let's build that!"

They won't need AI to replace everybody, just test tube babies cultivated for one specific task: compliance.

Edit: Autocomplete was incorrect.

Sex has been unnecessary for conception since Dolly the sheep was cloned over twenty years ago.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I take this back. Sex has been unnecessary for conception since the the invention of IVF

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 7 points 2 months ago

It already is and has been for a long time? Usually very expensive and not nearly as much fun though.

So how far are we from using the Three Seashells and will we be able to afford the Cursing fines to wipe our asses?

[–] qjkxbmwvz@startrek.website 5 points 2 months ago

...could pave the way for same-sex couples to have biological children together.

As usual, it sounds like the technology could be used for genuinely good things.

It could be used for horrible things too, yes, but that's often how it goes.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Let the sex wars begin.

[–] shoulderoforion@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago

What are you gonna do next, get rid of pizza?

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago

Oh, conservatives are just gonna boil at this, I can't wait.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

The final step for the patriarchy to get rid of women's primordial powers. But they will fail
