I Need Help (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by Simon@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/reddit@lemmy.world

I've been using reddit for over a decade and there's a few subreddits I've been banned from (/r/news, /r/crazyfuckingvideos, etc). Unfortunately, I keep forgetting when I'm browsing. If I accidentally comment in one of those my current account gets banned for ban evasion. Is there a browser extension that can block participation in certain communities but still allow you to see content? I can't keep having my current reddit accounts permenantly banned like this and then lose all my subscriptions and preferences and friends etc. This has happened twice already.

Please help.

Having no idea what this is about and being on a Linux meme subreddit is absolutely peak Lemmy.

I'm taking the other comment about not arguing with stupid people.

Just an FYI in case you don't follow Cloud news but Google has deleted customers accounts on multiple occasions and has been for literal years. This time they just did it to someone large enough to make the news. I work in SRE and no longer recommend GCP to anyone.

When you say those words do you imagine normal people reading this and not laughing

The deeper I get into this platform the more I realize the guise of being 'progressive, left, privacy-conscious, tech inclined' is literally the opposite.

??? So why don't we get better at making energy than get scared about using a renewable resource. Fuck it let's just go back to the printing press.

Amazing to me how stuff like this gets upvoted on a supposedly progressive platform.

Now this is something I can get behind. But I was talking about the decision to retaliate in the first place.

Why?? Please make this make sense. Having AI to help with coding is ideal and the greatest immediate use case probably. The web is an open resource. Why die on this stupid hill instead of advocating for a privacy argument that actually matters?

Edit: Okay got it. Hinder significant human progress because a company I don't like might make some more money from something I said in public, which has been a thing literally forever. You guys really lack a lot of life skills about how the world really works huh?

You guys need to fix opening YT music playlists. There's no shuffle button or anything.

I made this massive playlist which you should DEFINITELY not listen to if you're easily offended.

I probably unwittingly chose the worst time in known history to switch jobs.

If anybody has an open senior SRE position at work, that either sponsors or has a Canadian subsidary, let me know!

I want a resource like this, you want a resource like this, subscribe! and maybe it'll get somewhere.

Not self-promotion since I'm hoping to hand this off asap if it ever gets going. Sorry if this breaks the rules.

I have a 21:9 and I'd like things to be able to use that real estate. Is there a chromium plugin that could achieve this that you know of? I couldn't find one specifically for Lemmy
