Leverage. It's the feel good show for people who want to see powerful assholes get what they deserve.

I found your comment valuable. Recognizing AI is a skill we all need to practice.

Choreography. I can't follow other people's motions to save my life.

How does one see it in person?

I volunteered at the polls on election day and ran over a cardinal on the way there. That's when I knew we were cooked.

In 2020 there was a worldwide pagan ritual on Halloween (in which I participated) to bind Trump in order to prevent his election. Biden won. In 2024, there was no collective ritual and we know how that turned out. I don't actually believe in magic, but at this point, I'm happy to hedge(witch) my bets.

You can do even better. Charlie Kirk said Β "I think empathy is a made up New Age term that does a lot of damage"

Just tell them Kirk wouldn't want you to feel empathy.

FYI, spoiler tags do not work across all platforms.

You can tell this cat was in an accident and had to get the front hood replaced.

Making a Christmas painting for my mom inspired by the below photo.

It is still very much a work in progress. I've decided I don't like the tree in the background. I plan to paint over it and I'm looking for advice on what to put there instead that will balance the colors and composition.

Current ideas include a window with some kind of snow scene, or just make it a red wall, maybe with a vague wallpaper pattern.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or feedback.

Was looking for canvases to paint over and found this guy. Amateur painting, about the same level I am, but what kills me is the message on the back. "To my sister - I love you."

My hope is that this painter just became so prolific, that they finally told their sister "its ok, you don't have to keep them all, go ahead and get rid of some of my older stuff." Any other scenario is kind of heartbreaking.

Just wanted to post this for posterity before breaking out the gesso.

Dry (lemmy.world)

Acryllic and charcoal on paper.

Inspired by the novel Dry by Neal and Jarrod Schusterman. I really enjoyed this apocalyptic tale of present day California having its water shut off. I wouldn't call this YA, but the protagonists are four teens and we follow them as they try to ride out the terror and thirst. Seriously, I felt so dehydrated while reading this. I wanted to capture the feeling with a really dry, scraped painting.

Returning to my series of abstract paintings based on whatever fiction book I happen to be reading.

This was inspired by Virginia Feito's novel Ms March, the story of an insecure woman who prizes appearances above all and steadily loses her grip on reality. Imagine DuMaurier's heroine in Rebecca crossed with Bryce Dallas Howard's character from Black Mirror and throw in a lot of psychosis. I wanted to capture her orderly, black-and-white thinking being fractured over a background of static.

Recipe. Photo just before the bread drank in all the yummy broth. Mines not vegan because I use regular parmesan.

We have a reprieve.

  • CDC data shows 70 bird flu cases were reported in the U.S., but there are no known person-to-person exposures in the U.S. right now, eliminating the need for the virus' emergency declaration.
  • The agency will continue to monitor the situation and report data on the number of people monitored and tested for bird flu monthly.
  • Detections in animals will no longer be reported on the CDC's website, but can be found on the USDA's website.
