This photo was taken using a $10 zoom lens I picked up from the flea market. It was almost certainly taken off of an old film camera.

This is the drilling rig on the Joides Resolution, a research ship that has made contributions to our understanding of paleontology, plate techtonics, and climate science over the past 40 years. The cool geometric structure insulates a camera from vibrations so they can get a clear view of the seafloor.
