Instagram pulls this shit too. Clicking to block an account counts as engagement, so they throw more of that type of crap at you.

No Man's Sky and Satisfactory keep me coming back. Cozy and itch scratching without being harassed for the latest microtransaction.

That said, if a game does have microtransactions without jamming them at my eyeholes, and I'm not missing anything without them, also acceptable.

I don't give a flying fuck how they try to explain it. I don't want AI driven anything.

Let people opt in to that crap. They have an app store, out it's there.

The first comment in this chain is a (paraphrased) Barenaked Ladies quote from three song "If I had a million dollars"

Which fits this thread far better than a lecture on healthy eating.

I was working in a photo lab when it came out as well. The movie accurately portrayed (imo) how uncomfortably close to how involved one could feel when dealing with long time customers, even in a high volume lab where we rarely dealt with the customer. We'd see first dates engagements, weddings, kids being born, and so forth. Plenty of stories of 'I saw Customer at the mall, had to stop myself from waving and saying hello and asking after Event'.

It's not really much different from today's social media and how involved some get in the lives of people they've never met or don't even know they exist.

It made me double take on Robin Williams. I'd always seen him as Mork from his early career. I expected him to be over the top and funny, so watching him be serious and frankly disturbing was as confronting as the movie itself.

Turning the Stream shader feature of was the only way I could get Dune to run without a shader error crash. Good Enough is always problematic.

I was in danger of having sympathy for a lawyer, then this brought me back.

Way to take a serious matter and make it comical.

Fair enough. The creative modes are definitely worth considering, you can set build cost to zero, eliminating the waiting and farming. Survival aspects can also be tuned, so you can stand in storms and feel like a god.

My favourite characters are those who don't fit the 'norm'.

My Dune character is a bearded lady with purple hair. I've had my purple haired lass in multiple games now.

People complaining about representation in games... Most of the time we are playing as murder hobos, and inclusivity is their big whinge?

Why not?

(It's not really something I've ever thought about since I started using the term. It kinda just is.)

My bar is empty. Oh well.

I prefer Neo-Luddite. There's a few aspects of modern tech I eschew - AI/LLM bring one of them.
