Till you want to apply for a job but your bar isn’t green enough.

Then have the wealthy class try to distinguish themselves by always having a full green bar while the politicians balance your means to make the majority just miserable enough to always be light orange.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Exactly. My first thought seeing this was that shitty people are going to gamify making people more miserable now that they can see exactly how well they're doing.

Omg, you made a terrible idea terrifying. I think you nailed it in the head only they would keep at least 25% to 50% at the red limit just to incentivise the yellow bars.

If we want to talk about the current scales the greens would be holding us to a 60% red line rate. I'm not current but I'm guessing the average American living paycheck to paycheck is around 60% now.

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 1 month ago

I used to have wristbands - green, yellow, and red - that I'd switch between. Lost the green and yellow ones around 2020 or so. If that isn't a metaphor, I don't know what is.

[–] monogram@feddit.nl 18 points 1 month ago

And constantly have the Pokémon alarm sound when I’m in the red? No thanks.

[–] xia@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 1 month ago

Why is your mental fortitude going down, I'm just TALKING to you!?

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

“Why did you eat the entire glass of olives out of the fridge?”

Me pointing at my increasing mental health bar.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

like hell it would. It would just let awful people know who to abuse.

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 1 month ago

Damn, it would be a fun time every day at work with my coworkers constantly seeing my bar at 10-20% and slowly going down

[–] Ch3rry314@piefed.social 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd love to have boss music start playing when there are enemies nearby so I know it's time to leave.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

hears boss music at home

chuckes "I'm in danger"

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I'd love to have one for myself. That would help so much

[–] coherent_domain@infosec.pub 5 points 1 month ago

Yeah, a lot of time I don't know if I am just fine or too tired to feel anything...

Happy cake day!

[–] Knuschberkeks@leminal.space 2 points 1 month ago

Happy Cakeday

[–] molten@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

staring in shocked horror at anyone with a full bar

[–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

FINISH HIM!!!!

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Then you end up with Rimworld mental breaks.

[–] Fridgeratr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago

I could go for a Sad Wander right about now tbh

[–] pankuleczkapl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

I am a catatonic breakdown fan

[–] bfg9k@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Current status: binging smokeleaf

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Twist: We already do. Everyone's is just empty.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm a multiple healthbar boss! I break down but I keep going!

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Like Mysterio in Spider-Man 2?

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

My smart watch kinda does this. It has a concept called body battery that tries to calculate the amount of rest you get vs the amount of energy you use.

[–] nathanjent@programming.dev 5 points 1 month ago

I've seen Scott Pilgrim. It would just be another way to sell you energy drinks which promise to improve your health bar.

[–] Numuruzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago

When it gets low enough, it starts beeping like the health bar from LoZ LttP and takes itself out the rest of the way

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 month ago

That would stress me out, causing my health bar to go down, which would stress me out even more, causing my health bar to go down, which would....

[–] SrNobody@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

This would be awesome, I could go around hitting people with clutch complements, and moral support and see their heath bar go up.

[–] Bosht@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Debuffs would be helpful as well so I know wtf is wrong with me

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

An energy bar too.

[–] heavy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

The mental one would be a sekiro-esque posture indicator

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

I'd like to know what that health bar says for me.

Oi.

[–] scytale@piefed.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Mob Psycho in real life.

[–] TheDoozer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I feel like I have a Fallout style health bar, but instead of rad counters it's old age counters. My max available HP drops over time, with the space being filled up with pain. Not to mention permanent debuffs like "arthritis," and "bad knee."

[–] Sabata11792@ani.social 1 points 1 month ago

Mines been stuck at 0 for decades, no its not broke.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 1 month ago

I'd basically be doing a Red Tear Stone Ring run. 1HP, but super strong.

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I'd be doing a sl 1 run with 1 HP..

[–] Dvixen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

My bar is empty. Oh well.

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

i was really considering the rig from dead space!

was doing sketches, i mean it would just be LEDS and tubing, might be considered faddish though

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

That's the sanity bar, from Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Except having a meltdown in that game was like, walking into a room and having a delusion that your controller is disconnected, or a cockroach crawls across the screen, or all your arms fall off.

That was a great game.

[–] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

MENTAL BREAK: BERSERK

[–] Angelusz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Would that not ruin the surprise breakdown??

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What that would actually mean is more empathy and more openness from everyone. Sounds good.

[–] Honytawk@feddit.nl 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Would also be used to torture people to just before they died.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Your boss would absolutely exploit it.

[–] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 1 month ago

also easier bullying, because bullies know exactly what's effective and when to bully

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

People used to feel that instinctively.

Then capitalism, especially in the US, incentivized people to always look "fit" so people hide their true emotions.

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

Then capitalism slept with my wife!
