Go ahead. She still died gurgling through a hole in her neck. Surrounded by a bunch of neckbeard traitors filming her for internet points.

That’s all I care about.

This only shames the military, which I’m also alright with.

[–] yumpsuit@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Let history also remember that responders wheeled her inadequately covered gurney right by a live news reporter’s broadcast. This country can always eke out a little extra indignity in a death.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 4 points 14 hours ago

Yep, honour is for the living. Dead is dead.

this is fucking disgusting.

Just because she was a veteran doesn't mean she deserves to be honorably buried. She was engaged in open sedition. Rushing to assault our elected officials in attempt to subvert the democratic process. That's about the furthest thing from "honorable" as you can get.

I'm a veteran, I didn't commit treason against my oath and country.

Fuck her, and fuck every "veteran" like her.

To me, it kind of seems like the requirements to be buried in military cemeteries have declined significantly in the past several decades. It’s been scraping the bottom of the barrel for at least five years.

For example, my stepfather was in the army for four years and had a great time. He was stationed in Germany in the early 60s, found a conservative wife there, learned Hitler wasn’t all bad from her family, and got a job right after he left.

He insisted on being buried in a national military cemetery when he died 50 years or whatever after his awesome time in the army.

It sucks, given that both of my grandfathers actually were kind of heroic in world war 2, and they’re buried with their families.

It feels like stolen valor.

Edit: I forgot I posted a similar comment about this same thing earlier today! I thought I canceled it but apparently not. Sorry to repeat myself.

Unfortunately winners write history and we are having to watch in real time as these fuckers rewrite history to suit their agenda.

We need to make sure everyone is reminded that she was a traitorous cunt no matter what the white house or air force say.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

But Harris was the bourgeoise!

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 0 points 6 hours ago

Alright Bernie Sanders, take your pills and go to bed. :)

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 9 points 20 hours ago

As a Veteran of a different country I agree with your position.

[–] FelixMortane@lemmy.ca 14 points 15 hours ago

Whatever, you can offer someone anything you want in the world post-humorous. She still died acting as a traitor to the US democracy and lost her life over it. Good riddance.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 54 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

This country is a fucking clownshow

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 hours ago

Always has been

[–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 18 hours ago

"We never were behind this, but now we're in power we're gonna give one of the people behind this military honours."

[–] glorkon@lemmy.world 70 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

They keep saying that you should have the right to shoot people who break into someone else's house. But when someone actually does it, they don't like it either.

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 20 points 20 hours ago

No no you see, you missed the part that she's white.

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 26 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

They’ll probably make a monument for all the Jan 6ers that died and bury them there just as Hitler had done for those that died during the Beer Hall Putsch.

[–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Will you have a situation where when you pass the congress building you have to say "Heil Trump" like they did with that Beer hall?

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I think that is the part he really, really wants.

[–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

That and the abilty to have absolute power over everyone and everything in America no matter what. I'm just waiting until an EO is signed where he replaces the line "and for the Republic for which it stands" in the Pledge of Allegiance to "and it's President, Donald J. Trump."

The pledge itself, inho as a dirty filthy Jock from the UK, is a bridge too far, making kids pledge to the fucking Government. I live in the UK, we literally have a King, the only big nationalistic thing we did was learn Flower of Scotland in Assembly one friday, not God Save the Queen (as it was then), Flower of Scotland. We never sang it again except once where everyone sang it spontaneously when we crossed the border coming home from a Trip to London.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

I kind of appreciate it. It reminds us of what we're supposed to stand for.

"and to the republic for which it stands" "one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"

If we had lived up to that, the world would be a better place.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

Turning point has been hailing victory for like 4 years at this point.

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 39 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Holy shit, anyone in the military want to chime in on how they feel about this? Some bitch committing treason not only gets a military funeral, but her family gets a million dollars.

Remind us again of how much your family gets if you die while deployed...

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 36 points 20 hours ago

Vet here.

She is a traitor and should be forgotten. This country is not the country I joined to protect. Disgusting feeling.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 20 points 20 hours ago

Former Canadian Navy here. This is a fucking disgrace and a slap in the face for those who signed up to defend democracy.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 20 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

rioter

You misspelled insurrectionist.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

And seditionist. And traitor.

[–] kadaverin0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 16 hours ago

Apparently its now "play stupid games, get a military funeral with full honors".

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 24 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Then the US military is no longer worthy of respect.

[–] CompostMaterial@lemmy.world 21 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Trump is correcting a mistake he made the first term. In order to have a successful coup, you require military support. This term the Trump team started immediately filling the DoD with yesmen. I have zero doubt that by the time this term ends, if Trump wants to stay in office, the military will not intervene.

[–] huxley75@lemmy.world 6 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I doubt there will even be legit elections anyway. More like a referendum: "Do you like Trump. YES or no"

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

I'm thinking you're both correct.

[–] mustbe3to20signs@feddit.org 3 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

More like the Russian Annexion referendums:
"Do you want to enjoy our big-handed god emperor Donald Jesus Trump's power permanently? ☐ Yes"

[–] iridebikes@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

He also had a rally in front of the enlisted masses and riled them up with divisive rhetoric. And they loved it.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I reviewed the reporting on that - the West Point commencement was reported as ‘scattered’ applause from families for his demented ramblings, and normal applause for references to Schwarzkopf and Patton.

I couldn’t find itbut there was some report about the graduates being chosen for “looks” somewhere. Which fits, of course.

[–] iridebikes@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

Yeah. I'm confident he did that for optics and propaganda. My concern is that the military inherently attracts the Own The Libs crowd. Trump wants the military loyal to him because, well, he's already showing his hand but he's getting them used to being commanded by his whimsy. He will continue to escalate his involvement with the military and then ask them to break their oath. Then, the plan to execute a coup will be in full swing. The loyalists that Hegseth has appointed will do their dirt to enable Trump and unless they have overestimated their hand, they will be successful.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

The US military hasn't done anything here yet. They largely don't have a choice in this ceremony.

I do hope they do what they can within reason.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Are they slaves? Or robots? No?

Then they have chosen to offer military funeral honors for a seditionist and a traitor. A sub-human creature who willingly participated in an attempted violent overthrow of our government. This thing's name was Ashli Babbitt.

If they choose to honor seditionists and traitors, fine. But I can't wait to see all the surprised pikachu faces they put on when they're treated as seditionists and traitors themselves.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

Are they slaves?

Yeah, kinda. When you sign up for military service, they then own you.

Some people in the military have chosen. They won't be the ones standing outside.

For Fuck’s Sake

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

At least for me if you search her name on chrome or comes up with the description "military personnel" under her name.
