"Genocide Joe" passed more meaningful legislation for average Americans then most presidents. But the conservative propaganda machine won and made him seem like the devil incarnate because stupid Americans can't discern fact from fiction.

The only way I’m going to be able to deal with this bullshit is to tune out or numb myself to it in some way

Yup.

Ignorance is bliss.

The next 4 years minimum are going to be a non-stop onslaught of depressing and outright embarrassing headlines. I plan on cutting all news pipelines out of my feeds at the end of this calendar year.

Yup.

Fools think there's a magical reset button ever 4-8 years if we regret our decisions.

I implore those fools to pick up a history book and find out why that isn't a guarantee. But we know they never will.

By the end of whatever this is workers in America will have less power and our institutions will be weakened, if not destroyed.

Americans are about to find out what actual suffering is.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

So what are you going to do about it America?

Nothing. We're fucking pathetic.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

They never came up with any other plan

The guy said he had concepts of plans in a debate designed as a platform for candidates to let America know what their plans are.

And then we elected him anyways.

Americans are fucking stupid.

Take politics and politicians out of the equation and you're still left with stupid fucking Americans. And THAT is why we're doomed in the long run.

Hope everyone is ready to suffer.

I'd say blame it on conservatives. But you can also blame it on the absolute idiots that voted 3rd party, were single issue voters, or abstained from voting. They're just as much to blame and just as stupid as Trump supporters.

No one should be surprised.

Americans voted to not hold this criminal accountable.

We all knew this was coming if he won.

We've undeniably entered a new phase of lawlessness for the wealthy and powerful in our society. Even more so than before.

Only way to go from here is down. Buckle up.

The Thing. You come across a guy that's infected but still alive. Clearly on the verge of turning. He gives you vital information then says

"If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself."

And proceeds to blow his own brains out.

Boss move. Much respect.

I mean I wholeheartedly agree with everything you're saying except the fault not ultimately being on the average voter.

We don't live in the dark ages. All information is freely available to all voters. That information is power. Power that we're choosing not to wield or wielding irresponsibly.

Now, you can argue that in places like North Korea, that isn't true. They're under lock and key. Although I do believe they have some concept of an outside world and what's available in that outside world. And regardless of whether you're under a regime that's limiting information, you can still determine if your life sucks. Even without any outside stimulus to act as a basis of comparison.

This isn't a regime...yet. We have access to the data. We have the power to vote. It's our fault for not using the tools provided to us responsibly.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Not their fault. Don’t hate the non-wealthy ones, pity them.

Why? Why should I pity adults who make awful decisions that degrade the quality of all our lives? I didn't receive some special education. I wasn't privileged. But I didn't end up stupid enough to do what they've done. They vote the way they do because they're intellectually lazy and choose to prize emotion over facts. That's not some rich person's fault. That's not the media's fault. That's THEIR fault. It's wrong to try to excuse that for them.

We aren't talking about children here. We're talking about grown ass adults.

I understand people are desperate, but desperation doesn't just make you a drone to be impressed upon by the wealthy and manipulative. Being lazy, or weak, or hateful does. You don't need some higher education to understand right from wrong.

Yeah, but us hairless chimps didn't have the internet before. Our primate brains weren't ready for weaponized misinformation in the palm of our hands.

It's probably going to get worse.
