This kind of rhetoric (most of it; Hamas is a resistance organization and much of what they've been accused of has been proven false and Israel is refusing to allow any further independent investigations) is exactly what we've all been saying, and it's Marjorie Taylor Greene saying it?

Have I woken up in an alternate universe? Is the Mandela effect happening?

Literally that first part most especially: trying to explain to people by asking themselves to try putting themselves in the shoes of people from Gaza; it's a sentiment I barely see from pro-Palestinian democrats, but now MTG is saying it? Asking people to think about what it's like if they were going through this?

Also I want to mention, cause it bears mentioning, MTG actually spoke out AGAINST refusing Gazan children to go to America to receive aid.

Seriously, have I woken up in an alternate universe?

This is definitely just slimy ass opportunism, but she hits all the right points to convince gullible people she’s being sincere. Basically, she’s evolved into a life form that’s perfectly suited to thrive in the nuclear wasteland of Capitol Hill

Does Hamas deserve it? No.

She’ll do anything to stop more Jewish space lasers from being built.

MTG doesn't care about Palestinians, she's grifting because she's a white nationalist who hates Jews (she fails to distinguish between Jews and Zionists). Candace Owens claims to support Palestinians, too, and for the same reason.

Also, what she really wants isn’t an end to the imperial death machine, she wants it redirected towards Iran and/or China.

Although I sympathize with many attempts on this site to figure out what these bloodsuckers think, I think most of the time it’s a futile endeavor. MTG is not Henry Kissinger with a well thought out ideology and extremely deliberate goals. She is like most Americans - completely incoherent on the subject of politics.

This is a woman from suburban Atlanta, 4 or so years out of college she is given her father’s contracting company. Then at one point she becomes a CrossFit coach. She not active politically until 2016 when she is at that point like 42 years old. She spends a measly 3 years involved with various far right John Birch style conspiracy initiatives, where she holds such esteemed titles as “Facebook group moderator” and then decides to run for congress.

She’s a great tool of the bourgeoisie but she is hardly the one pulling the levers of power. She has a bunch of extreme far right ideas rattling around in her brain, a whole lot of antisemitism, the typical American veneration of the “entrepreneur,” but none of these things add up to any coherent worldview. She’s merely reacting to the last thing she saw based on whatever contradictory ideas she’s picked up throughout her life that have stuck in her brain like a bee wading through pollen. I’m sure as horrible and racist and antisemitic as she is she still doesn’t view herself as a “bad person.” Maybe some video slipped through the algorithm and she was forced to see what the war in Gaza actually looks like. Sure she wants to glass the place, but she’s still a suburban mom who wants to “save the children.” Or whatever who knows why she came to this decision. But show her some more Israeli propaganda or make up another “Hamas is boiling children alive in cauldrons like medieval witches” lie and then she’ll react to that. I wouldn’t put much stock in this whole thing. All it’s proof of is that Israel is losing support even among the dogs of empire as this genocide goes on, and the great Trump mandate is beginning to falter.

Nah, she's a consistent antisemite. She used to prattle on about Jewish space lasers. So she's an antisemite who hasn't gotten the memo that you're supposed to hate the Jews while also loving Israel

yeah, for most American antisemites that aren't simple end times cultists, the appeal of Israel is that Israel believes in the centrality of the Race War, and it provides a narrative to replace the traditional Elders of Zion theory for why the antisemite feels so powerless. Israel tells the world "Jews are cruel, dishonest child-killers who will stop at nothing to destroy our enemies. this is the essential feature of our character, and we're proud of it." It says "the only virtue is strength and the only sin is weakness. Love your race above all else and you will triumph." At this point there's nothing for your cornfed skinhead to disagree with.

The idea that Jews are evil because they enact suffering on nonwhite people is just incoherent to most Nazis, and I really do think MTG arriving at it is anomalous.

Well I’m not gonna argue that she’s not an antisemite lol, but idk it’s hard for me to see this as the only reason. She just hasn’t been consistent on Israel, and it’s not like she’s been quiet on the subject either. She’s referred to herself as “a Christian who supports Israel,” publicly stated she stands with and supports Israel and has been extremely hostile towards pro-Palestine protests and voices. She’s also voted to fund Israel’s defense in the past, though she makes headlines because she also opposes it sometimes.

This is the answer.

I could name like 12 women I’ve met personally who are nearly identical to MTG in both ideology and appearance. All of them, if you showed them pictures of children being starved to death and told them “Israel is doing this with American weapons” would say “That’s fucked up someone should stop them”

Marjorie Taylor Greene can best be described as “some white lady” and literally nothing deeper than that. But that places her far to the left of the Democratic Party because the average “some white lady” thinks that killing children is wrong

[–] rootsbreadandmakka@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago (6 children)

I’m not sure if I’d characterize her as far to the left of the Democratic Party. This is still the woman who describes herself as a Christian nationalist, doesn’t believe in evolution, has used three percenters as security at campaign events, and believes Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are part of a Muslim invasion of the us.

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Sorry, when I said “far to the left of the Democratic Party” I did mean on this issue specifically.

“Killing children is wrong” is far to the left of the Democratic Party’s position on Israel.

[–] rootsbreadandmakka@hexbear.net 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Yeah except for me a number of democrats have already referred to the Gaza situation as a genocide before MTG. And even among dems who haven’t described it this way, more and more are beginning to break ranks, vote against arms sales, start to criticize US policy on Israel, at least with regards to the current genocide. I do agree she has outflanked the core of the Democratic Party which remains staunchly pro-Israel, but the core of the Republican Party also remains staunchly pro-israel. There are congresspeople on both sides of the aisle breaking rank, MTG is not really notable in this regard.

Just your friendly reminder that fascists love adopting leftist/socialist aesthetics, which is what they think being anti-genocide is, an aesthetic. They don’t care to dismantle the mechanisms that allow for these genocides to persist (re: capitalism).

[–] Drewfro66@lemmygrad.ml 39 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Republicans continue to outflank Democrats on the left

[–] underisk@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

horseshoe theory is real but its the shape a dem's spine makes from leaning so hard to the right.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 36 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Having the far right saying exactly the same thing we're saying using the same language we use will quite successfully turn liberals away from resistance or make them question whether it is actually antisemitism.

I don't actually see it as a good thing. I think there's so many ways zionists can use it to their benefit. Liberal zionists in particular will use it to convince people horseshoe theory is real.

[–] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

It could also be a way of appeasing those actually concerned about genocide but are otherwise republicans. Just keeps them attached to the party to keep voting for them

I don’t give a shit what Marjorie Taylor Greene says. I care even less to speculate about what she secretly believes. She’s a bourgeois politician. They will all say anything and they all believe in nothing. I give a shit what they do. To the extent that she acts to materially impede the genocide of Palestine, it’s an unqualified good regardless of what other evil shit she does, says, or believes.

The idea that people can only ever be all good or all bad and that a good thing becomes a bad thing when it’s said by a bad person is child-brained nonsense.

Hamas did nothing wrong.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

American politicians should never live down making MTG look like a voice of reason on this. Fucking MTG. thats-why-im-confused

"we should be spending that money to murder brown people here at home"

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

when you analyze these people, you have to understand that they have learned that liberal politics is incredibly effective at making noise and staving off popular dissent. it's the erasure of context. even the fascists are liberals and they'll act like it when it suits them. the fact that she can outflank democrats to the left with this historically nonsensical hog rhetoric is just evidence of the complete and utter necrosis in the democratic party: all the organs are rotting

[–] hellinkilla@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

She is a fucking Nazi.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Did something tragic happen recently to her personally involving death? Ordinarily republicans seem to only be able to see things through their own eyes.
