It's over bros/siss/xes

I boiled the pasta, and instead of draining the water, I accidentally added the tomato sauce into the water with the pasta. My pasta is now soup.

The only saving grace is that I usually undercook my pasta and eat it crunchy. So I can still reduce the "soup" a bit before it becomes overcooked.

I just tasted the pasta. I added salt to it which was a mistake because the sauce I bought also has salt in it. I now am beginning to understand how that "if I cook even the simplest of food I will somehow fuck it up and poison everybody" gag in anime works.

Next time this happens, you can strain the soup and cook the liquid down, then re-add the pasta.

This water cooking is out of control, comrades!

I once burned easy mac, the dumbed down version of mac and cheese where you just add water and microwave it. I forgot to add water and filled the dorm with smoke at close to midnight.

You and about 100 other freshmen in my dorm alone.

My version of that phase was me learning about all the flavors I have at my disposal and then experimenting mixing them to see what happens... and also fucking up measurements by mixing up teaspoons with tablespoons.

My experimental curry making days were fucking wild

[–] Alisu@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Worst thing I did with curry was make it too strong so it was pretty spicy. If I was any more white I couldn't have eaten it

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

I messed up the first time with tablespoons of coriander and turmeric instead of tablespoons of cumin, teaspoons of coriander, and a decent dusting of turmeric. And it was with an onion puree sauce base.

My lord it was rough

add some beans and you just made pasta e removedioli

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

pasta e removedioli

I don'tget it sicko-no

The Italian word for beans starts with a syllable that automated censors cannot distinguish from the F slur

pɑstɑ e fɑgioli

spaghetti-code&cool-bean

You got censored but I was able to figure out what you meant

You just made a homestyle type of minestone

Happy little accidents can happen in cooking too.

the children yearn for the

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

ngl I don't see the problem here

Is there a reason you had to keep the pasta in the soup instead of removing it and reserving it to fix the sauce?

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

No, other than the fact that I ate it all.

[–] corvidenjoyer@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Thats good. I was more worried that you couldn't salvage it for some reason. The way this was prepared might make an italian sad, mama-miba but its not the worst thing in the world. Your defintely not a failure here.

[–] Speaker@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

The way this was prepared might make an italian sad

Good

Then you are golden my friend.

As long as you're as cheap/flavour tolerant as me and will still eat it, there's no downside here. I made some truly weird and messed up shit when I first started cooking for myself, and it just helped me learn better.

Cooking for others is when the stakes are a bit higher, and I will never not be at least a little anxious about that.

Cooking just takes practice. I was a chef at one point in my life, but as a kid I once accidentally replaced all the sugar in a brownie recipe with more flour. They tasted about as good as you'd imagine.

Water based cooking lol

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

U just made noodle soup, I fail to see the problem.

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It's the tube pasta. The diagonally cut tubes.

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

Unconventional noodle soup, with penne instead of shells

As long as it tastes good, there is no correct or incorrect shape of pasta for soup, imo. It's all a social construct imposed by anti-italian-action

[–] itsraining@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 3 days ago

So what? Still fail to see the problem

[–] Meltyheartlove@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

Pasta soup eh lea-think I like tomato soup and pasta so why not.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

you could try save the sauce/soup and try to make one pot pasta with it, but probably just eating soup pasta is easier

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

I need to see Italians with deep (and silly) beliefs about authenticity react to this. I once worked with an Italian that got very angry about American pizza. Pizza with tomatoes didn't even exist until nearly 1900 and wasn't popular in Italy until it was already popular in the US.

Perfect your pasta soup recipe, comrade.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

on the bright side at least you only did it by accident, when I make mac n cheese I make it this soupy on purpose

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

I see you've read the cookbook: https://hexbear.net/post/4970465

Siblings or sibs would be shorter.

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 2 points 3 days ago

that's a good one
