How many? Turn off TV, unsubscribe from Hulu rows.

If you are paying for this shit, you are part of the problem.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Or just tolerating this shit, if you have the "fuck me with ads only" plan.

Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 hour ago

checks news for Luigi fallout

I'm not sure even that even sways them. They think it won't happen to them.

Man, I'm so mad I want to upvote this, even though I think it's a lot more complicated than that.

It's just a historical fact

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

Yeah, but just to pick one example, elites are entirely capable of being scared for their lives and being evil. That pretty much describes most historical systems. If you were serious about making change (which, let's be honest, is pretty rare), you'd need a much better, more detailed plan.

Every movement is demonized by the billionaire media, whether or not people agree with it. Consent is effectively manufactured for our government to crush dissent on behalf of their donors.

If you come up with something let me know, but in the mean time we will probably see more vigilanties.

[–] irmoz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

And you're expecting them to lay out their entire plan when clearly all they wanted to do here was just express how they feel?

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 32 points 5 hours ago (2 children)
  1. Ditch all paid streaming apps.
  2. Research how Stremio, Torrentio, and Real-Debrid work together.
  3. Never pay to see ads ever again.
[–] MunkysUnkEnz0@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Exactly, it's really the perfect combination, to be honest. For what? $3 a month? Outrageous?

Or go to one of the streaming websites like 123 movies or whatnot and use an ad blocker. Same experience to an extent.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 1 points 54 minutes ago* (last edited 51 minutes ago)

It's €16 for 6 months of all the content you could ever care to stream, delivered straight to your living room. So yeah, about $2.75/mo USD for 1000x more content than any other streaming platform. Deal of the century.

I should also mention that the addon support for Stremio is huge, allowing you to customize your feed exactly how you like it. A good addon for example is Trakt.tv, which recommendeds content based on your viewing habits. Perfect for people who are too dependent on Netflix/Disney/Max/YouTube/etc. and their algorithms (me).

As the icing on the cake, Stremio also has HDR & Dolby Atmos support. Great for home theater geeks like me.

[–] Benaaasaaas@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Except you have to watch out and buy TVs that don't show ads by themselves these days...

[–] MunkysUnkEnz0@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Am I behind the times? I don't use a television. I use a desktop computer with monitors. The television itself will show ads.?

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 10 points 3 hours ago

To prevent this from happening, you should always check RTINGS first before buying a TV (or any electronics, for that matter). Scroll down to the "Ad-Free" section for the review of the TV you're considering.

All I know is that Lexus Texas (that is what TX means to me) sounds like the name of a porn star. Is that the message Lexus wanted me to take away from their advertising and branding?

[–] Ibuthyr@lemmy.wtf 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Alexis Texas was so goddamn hot. One of the best asses in porn.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

ass as big as a punch bowl, and as supple as a jello shot.
