It’s going to be a tough pill to swallow for many if it turns out Tesla’s approach was the right one all along. Not only that - it would also mean they’re now years ahead of everyone else, while the others would have to start from scratch. My prediction is that many car companies will end up licensing software from Tesla rather than building their own. Not the most popular view, especially on Lemmy, but fortunately, we don't need to argue about it, we just have to wait and see.

What are the alternative approaches? To date, Tesla's commercial self-driving showing has been underwhelming.
