I started listening to Slayer - Raining Blood while shaving as a joke, now I‘ve conditioned my body to focus when this song plays

Nope. Worse performance. It’s better to just run the steam exe through whisky, although it’s only good for older games.

IMHO the M1 chip with 16 GB RAM would be perfect for gaming if you could just plug in an external thunderbolt graphics card.

I‘mma test this today on M1 air and compare it to Whisky

I’d like to add for switch: Snipperclips, Yoshi‘s crafted world and Pode

On Linux or Windows? Firefox + uBlock origin (there’s nothing better than that)

On Mac? Firefox + uBlock origin (worse alternative: Safari + AdGuard, since you might synch browser with iPhone)

On Android? Firefox + Privacy Badger + uBlock Origin

On iOS? Safari + AdGuard + Vinegar + Baking Soda

On SmartTV it’s different.

Hardest overall solution that even works on PS5, Switch and other consoles: Get yourself a Pi-Hole https://pi-hole.net/

For WebOS TVs use this: https://github.com/webosbrew/youtube-webos

Android TVs should get SmartTube: https://github.com/yuliskov/smarttube#smarttube-old-name-smarttubenext

RokuTVs got either this thing: https://channelstore.roku.com/en-ca/details/840aec36f51bfe6d96cf6db9055a372a/playlet or the open source alternative: https://github.com/iBicha/playlet

What happened to the piped bot? :(

Seems like it depends on who does it to whom. A 19 year old girl? She’s a whore. A 12 year old boy? He‘s a prick. A 12 year old girl? She’s been with the boys for too long. A regular dude/woman mid 30‘s?/40‘s? He’s/She‘s either mentally unstable or drunk. I do it to my girl? She’ll probably ask if she can finally put that thing from her bedside table inside me. An old man? He‘s a creep. A comedian on stage? It’s part of his show and he’s funny!!

It’s not a movie, rather a game: Layers of Fear

We played it at a friend (well, he played and we watched) back in… 2018? Or maybe 19?

Long story short, I try to forget it to experience it again later in 2030.

Upvote because it made me angry.

I’ve come to the point where at least some people come to me for advice on buying electronics.

Girl friend asked me for a TV to connect with her PlayStation, not that expensive, 4K/60 and low input delay for casual gaming, and it should last for at least 10 years and should be cheap. Long story short, I got her a 4K/60fps TV with a gaming mode that has like 2~3ms delay for € 550. It‘s a dumb Philips TV running Linux, so no google play and you can remove all spyware. It has apps, but she got the PS to do all of this anyway.

I don’t quite think that there’s a name for this genre (yet?) but I’ll take this opportunity to blast out my favorite story-focused game serieses

Xenoblade is a nice fantasy RPG if you really like Storytelling! And all 3 core games are available on Switch!

Generally speaking, Xenogears and Xenosaga have amazing stories too, but Xenoblade got translated and dubbed waaaay better

Edit: just thought of this the last couple of minutes, and, if there was a name for this genre, it would spoil the whole game/movie/book for you! Imagine watching Planet of the Apes for the first time (it’s old by now and I hope there’s no one here who didn’t watch it already) and exactly knowing what planet it is

In my asklemmy post (here: https://lemmy.world/post/20013379) I asked if anybody could help me because the mouse just does not glide well on my mousepad, while the 10 year old gaming mouse does glide.

The answers were pretty good and something I looked into. Then, I was just like "what if…" and put regular tape on the mouse, just to test it… and… it glides!

I‘ve recently bought an Apple Magic Mouse to have a mouse for my left hand while working. My main mouse on the right is my trusty SL Prime-Z DW. This one glides around the mousepad like butter in a hot pan. My totally new Apple Magic Mouse however drags like dry-fried chicken. My mousepad is the size of the whole desk, so it’s the same mousepad for both mice. The other mouse I had was gliding just fine, but buttons don’t work with my left hand so I settled for this one. And no, I don’t plan on putting a Trackpad there, the trackpad is below the keyboard (I need it to better move the camera)

Do you have any tips as to how I can make this mouse glide better?

Has anyone of you stumbled upon any information on how to get it running on machines like mine, or does it just not have enough power?

For anyone wondering: all AppleWatches older than the S6 Chip are being cancelled, basically Series 5 and below is dead.

Well then, farewell Series 3. You’ve been a great companion since 2017. I will enjoy the time we still have together, until you finally decorate the rainbow arm when crossing into the big drawer up in the skies. May you be reunited with the Series 0.

I've watched the keynote and read some stuff on the internet and I've found this video about a dude talking about the new update (I linked it here because if you didn't see the keynote, this is probably enough)

Is it just me, or... does no one address that Apple does a Microsoft move by basically scanning everything on every machine and feeding this into their LLM?

Does it make any difference (quality-wise and input-delay-wise) if I use a DisplayPort to HDMI cable directly or a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, followed by a regular HDMI cable?

Hello everyone.

My 10 year old computer is not compatible with windows 11 and so I was wondering whether to upgrade Mainboard and CPU to something cheap (I guess not many are worse than my 2014 Intel i5).

I don’t see how much specs are important for changing these parts. My Power unit is capable of -800W and I‘ve got enough Y-Cables to connect all my 6 fans 2 ports if necessary. Btw it’s only ever being used for gaming. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello Lemmings!

I've recently finished the whole Xenosaga series and was impressed by it. Even more than by FF 16 (which was... cutscenes and a few good boss fights). This got me thinking: what else are old games that don't get enough recognition? I'm not talking about the Oceanhorns (which was boring tbh) or Hollow Knifhts, which everyone knows about. More like hidden gems you picked up "because" and liked it. In my case this was Blue Fire, a platformer that mixes Celeste's movement and 3D space. Other games I really enjoyed were

Valiant Hearts (WWI point and click)

Light Matter (3D puzzle game)

Cloudbuilt (a fast mirrors edge)

I'm more than happy to read some of your recommendations!
