Movies always seem to have higher quality for some reason? Is it because the TV format is just too long to have a coherent/concise story?

Like, you just look weird if you sitting by yourself (example: waiting at a bus stop) and just stairing into space, so like its basically social expectation to be on your phone when you are by yourself.

Plus, just feels like if you don't have a phone on you, you are missing a lot of information (access to the internet, maps, etc.) that you might need in case you get lost or something.

(I mean, we have crazy shit like a ceo getting shot, coup attempt in south korea, syrian dictator being overthrown, lets make this timeline more chaotic.)

As an Asian American (Chinese Ancestry), I rarely have interactions with law enforcement, except that one school fight which I got arrested because I defended myself against a bully, which I still resent them for (both the law enforcement and school administration). This in a blue city btw. While the cops never physically done anything like torture or anything, getting held at the police station for a few hours felt like psychological torture. I was just wondering, would my experience have been worse if I were some other race? (I mean like: if I were black, would I have gotten beaten by the cops?)

And also, how (in general) are Asian Americans treated compared to other racial groups?

(Asking because, again, I rarely had any interactions with law enforcement, and am just curious)

I mean, think about it. My grandmother was a piece of shit, which caused my mother to be a piece of shit.

So this probably also happen in affluent families. One of those families is gonna be the ruling dynasty. So in the beginning somebody send an army to conquer lands. Then was really strict (aka: abusive) towards his children in order to find the "perfect" hier to the kingdom/empire. Because of the abuse, the heir grows up to be a tyrant. This chain reaction lasted for centuries, which is why our world is just tyranny after tyranny.

Obviously this is not to say it absolves the tyrants of their wrongdoings, but its the explanation.

Every account you ever had, every post/comment you ever posted, now has your real name, a photo of you, and your address, all just magically show up on the webpage right next to each of your posts/comments (also, no "hacking" could hide the info). All deleted posts/comments are magically restored and nothing you do (short of permanently shutting down the website and physical destruction of the servers) can delete them. (Any edits would still show every change you made.) How fucked are you?

And don't think about changing your name, or moving, all this info updates in real time. (for "magic" reason)

(You also cannot delete any future posts.)

Like this:

But replace "Hawaii" with your location.

🙃

Well... What happened next?

(Excerpt from Wikipedia:)

Tennessee state law required that the name of a candidate who died before the election be removed from the ballot, and it did not allow the candidate's party to replace a deceased candidate who died within 30 days of the election. Accordingly, after Burks's death, Looper became the only candidate listed on the official ballot for Burks's senate seat.

Several people tried to have Looper's name stricken from the ballot, claiming that Looper's arrest constituted moral turpitude. The state Republican Party distanced itself from Looper. To prevent Looper from winning the state senate seat on a technicality, Burks's widow, Charlotte was put forth as a write-in candidate for her husband's seat. Dozens of volunteers helped her campaign, including some Republicans. On election day, Charlotte Burks, as a write-in candidate, won the seat with 30,252 votes (95.18%) against Looper's 1,531 votes (4.82%). One of her first initiatives as state senator was to introduce legislation to ensure that the name of any candidate who dies within 40 days of an election could remain on the ballot, thus preventing the situation that occurred after her husband's death. Charlotte Burks won re-election in 2002, 2006, and 2010. She retired after the 2014 election.

Yea... I read this and just WTF'ed at this. Imagine if the dude never got caught.

Like why run a campaign if you could just a little crime.

Also, dude was so stupid, could've hired an assassin instead of doing it himself.

(Also, if he were a former president instead, he would've been immune from the criminal prosecution. Rookie mistake.)

Say, some alien just wanted to mess with us, but doesn't invade, or even care enough to want to kill us, but seeing how everyone is on their phone all the time, they decided to just jam all our radios to watch us suffer. Their transmitting power they use is so powerful, its jamming signals are 1000 times stronger than the strongest radios we have, so there's no way we can overpower the jamming.

What does the immediate aftermath look like?

What does it look like in the long term?

(Please don't say "kill the aliens" they have tech so advanced, its impossible to do it)

Not just as in Lemmy, but as in general.
