Does alcohol expire? Specifically whiskey? (lemmy.world)
 

My family and I were going through my grandmother's apartment after her passing to get her estate in order. After all was said and done, I got a bunch of alcohol she had for guests mostly, including two types of whiskey (scotch and regular), some gin, and three flavors of vodka. I tried some of the Crown Royal and it didn't taste too good. Also didn't taste like the last glass of whiskey I had before. Of course I always hear about stuff aged 4 years or 12 years etc. so I wonder if it's a "gone bad" thing or a me thing.

adhd, bullied endlessly since grade school, chronically ill, that chronic illness was unknown therefore mismanaged til high school, intense anxiety, general fear of people...

I'm sure there's more reasons, but those are the ones that come to mind

I've seen so much from/about that game I forgot that you can still spoil it for some people. I just knew everyone knew about it, given how it enveloped the internet for a brief time after it was out

Why are earbuds so dang loud on PC? (lemmy.world)
 

On the past 2 PCs I had, if I used earbuds I had to turn the volume down to 20% at the LOUDEST. Often times I had to go to 10% or lower to not utterly blow my eardrums out. Yet when I use regular headphones, 40% is an okay volume. I don't know if that's a problem specifically for Realtek audio drivers or the earbuds themselves. Is there a way to change this so I can have earbuds be quiter at louder volumes?

for me, it was discoverability. Like, several guides said "use tags" but 4 out of 5 people DON"T. And more often than not, when you do search the tags, you see several posts that aren't what you wanted at all. Or worse, the tag you search doesn't have any posts newer than several months to a year. Basically it relied on an honor system where few people had honor.

I have this problem every so often. If your freezer is anything like mine, you just keep grabbing ice cream during, or even right after, a defrost cycle. That, or there's something wrong with the defrost cycle itself. Best check your meters and gauges

YSK rice commonly contains arsenic, but most of it can be removed by boiling in water (4:1 ratio) for 5 minutes, and discarding that water before starting the regular cook cycle. in c/youshouldknow@lemmy.world

look up a guy named Dan Price. Dude saw his Ice Cream company failing and chose to slash his pay exponentially to offer living wages and benefits to everyone else, and business fucking boomed for it. There are literal chapters in economics textbooks about what he did.

Now, I never created an onlyfans account, but today I got two emails from them: one asking to confirm an email account, and one confirming its cancellation. Was that a hack going around or just bad luck on my end? I already changed passwords and everything, just wondering if anyone else had a problem like this.

Naturally I bought a separate device to use for that, but I was wondering if there were ways to make my data undesirable to potential buyers. I always hear stories about the dangers of buying from WIsh.com, Aliexpress, and recently Temu. I've jokingly called them "buyer beware" sites even. Yet people still use them, and there's just as many positive results as negative. But I've also heard about unexplained card charges, data hacks, pyramid-scheme-like behavior, etc. So which of those sites, or other similar sites, is the "safest" if I DID wanna shop there?
