We need to return to the simpler times when mercenaries killed their lord if they weren't paid.

I haven't heard of this until now. Is this a general occurence among feudal societies?

Shit it happens today even, look at the recent failed revolt done by the wagner pmc in russia.

The praetorian guard did it often in late roman history, too. They'd off the emperor when someone else (often one of their generals) would offer them a better deal.

Always pay your mercenaries. Which Brace Belden rule is that?

I don't think the true anon rules are ordered. If they are it's chronological, my guess is it's rule 4 or 5.

Oh hey cool, I get to recycle this joke for a completely different and way more legitimate cause than last time:

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

why don't they just tell them what the ceo of the company i was working at said: "we need missionaries, not mercenaries"

i'm sure it would work out better for them

A lot of military members are already on food stamps and stuff, especially if they're lower rank and married, so the shutdown will hit them twice.

But on the other hand, every military member has guaranteed housing and food availability via the on-base barracks/housing and chow halls, so they're insulated from the shutdown to a large degree.

But those living off base better hope they have an understanding landlord. And even those living on it will have to deal with not being able to pay their car/insurance/phone/etc.

And how long will the DFACs continue to get food shipped to them on credit? Apparently the DFAC system has been dysfunctional for years despite the fact that the troops' paychecks get docked to pay for it, if this goes on long enough the bases might have to start distributing MREs from storage to feed the troops and their families, which won't go over well.

Recruit them into ice and tell them they can seize stuff from those they deport, easy peasy
