How are so many people confused in this thread?

Did y’all grow up with cold cubes or something?

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 3 points 7 hours ago

I think I misheard them. ☹️ I've been heating up tubes for years!

[–] moosetwin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

yeah, I was so poor growing up that we had to put a tray of water in the freezer to get our cubes

[–] drspawndisaster@sh.itjust.works 4 points 12 hours ago

From what I hear that's actually the best way to do it. It only takes a few extra seconds and you don't have to wear out your fridge and do weird plumbing shit. I have an ice dispenser now and it spills ice everywhere sometimes, and just randomly doesn't have any ice to give me occasionally. And it shorts out the entire damn room or some shit sometimes so I have to lean into a crevice almost behind the fridge to press a button on the wall at ankle height to reset everything. If I don't notice, everything in the kitchen stops working until i do notice, including the fridge which Is a very bad thing to happen for too long.

We were so poor, our cubes were merely lukewarm 😓

I love this. It's like Cow Tools for Twitter. No one is sure what's going on but there's some semblance or parallel of a known cultural reference.

I think that's the point, I think it's the kind of surrealist meme where you present some random thing in a way that it looks like it could be a reference to something but really isn't.

I get it even less than you

At this point, the world is so fragmented that you can put anything, no matter how absurd, out there and claim that it's "the latest thing."

6 - 7 hahaha omg

[–] net00@lemmy.today 48 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I may have become too old, can't understand this shit. Even looking at the twitter thread it's so strange

Nope, you basically get it.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 24 points 1 day ago

I don't know. In the Netherlands they do beschuit met muisjes, maybe somewhere else they're heating up cubes?

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 20 points 1 day ago

The main character has arrived! Heat up the meteor fragment. It's time to forge his new blade!

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 day ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

I only sort of get the joke, but that's absurdism for ya!

Anyway, here's the video the image is taken from: https://youtu.be/aLwaPP9cxT4

And here's the company's video about the demo: https://youtu.be/ofDyEJVUqEc

You forgot to add the https:// header.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 2 points 22 hours ago

Shoot, thought they'd work without it

Fixed!

[–] rmuk@feddit.uk 1 points 12 hours ago

Yes, it is considered good protocol to include the header.

Nobody tell Picasso, he hated those things. Guy was a notorious cubist.
