Unfortunately a lot of people, especially a lot of young boys and men, seems to have been basically brought up listening to this moron. He has been incredibly influential in spreading right wing lies and creating new generations of fascists.
And all those young boys were like "he's not right wing" the entire time, then he endorsed Trump like we all knew he would, because we're not fuckin brain damaged.

He really is unbelievably dumb. Unfortunately millions of people don't realize this, or don't care.

The core of his appeal was/is that he was/is an average Gen X macho meatheaded dudebro who is an idiot, but also thinks he is clever in ways most people don't appreciate, thinks that his 'common sense' is sufficient to sniff out bullshit.
He is an aspirational figure for millions of older male losers, a father figure for younger male losers / kids from broken families.
He is also basically a near perfect embodiment of the Dunning Kruger effect.

Joe Rogan is a dumb person's idea of what a smart person acts like. "I'm just asking questions" is not a good excuse to continuously espouse misinformation and give right-wing nutjobs an international voice.
He's not even just doing that anymore. He's straight-up lying and spreading disinformation. It's intentional.
Saw clip of him fact checking himself on his own show, finding out he was wrong and then choosing to believe his own false claims because he liked them more... Like, spoken aloud that he is going with what he said because he liked it better... Said the words. Definitely intentional.
He does this by citing a study that says it's warming and he reads it wrong. I believe it says the earth is in a cooling period and he stops there. What it says is yes, there is a natural cooling and heating cycle, and we are in the cooling period of that cycle BUT we are heating dispite this period. We are getting hotter faster in the cooling period than we ever know the earth heated naturally.
It's like it's bed time, we are awake and blaming the caffeine but he insists "no we are asleep because I read it's bed time"
Yeah, if you look at a chart it’s plainly obvious the Earth was going to cool. But then we industialized.

To paraphrase, the graph in question is so zoomed out (to include all earth's history) that it's like asking someone to tell you what colour a specific roof is from a satellite image of an entire country. (If you do zoom in to the relevant parts climate change is obviously happening)

Why do people listen to him or believe him? Its like people watching history channel's ancient aliens show and taking it as fact. Its the same quality of information...
I blame the History channel for much of our society's issues. Ever since they stopped playing WW2 documentaries 24/7 and embraced the science fiction we have become more and more 1930s Germany. Without the consent reminder we have been slipping

Part of the problem is that climate change is not uniform across the entire planet, and local weather patterns vary in different places. The other part of the problem is that Joe Rogan is a fucking idiot.

Maybe, just maybe…. We have multiple things going on at once. Climate change, poles shifting, plates shifting… it’s not that hard. You CAN be cooling off and still have a climate change problem.
Weird you got down votes because this is true. You could be cooling in places but warm in others. Still doesn't mean climate change isn't happening. Some places are getting colder because of climate change. Heat melting ice caps and changing the physical makeup of the planet would cause other areas to experience different climates.
