You mean your immigrant friends?

And yes, the more prepared and richer your friends are, the better the options... But still, it is not like all countries in the world are waiting with open arms.

The life of most immigrants is at least a bit uphill

I have found no use for trivial stuff as I don't trust what it outputs. If I have to verify its answer, I might as well just research it on my own, it's literally more work to ask and research than to just research

At work, the only use I have found is to provide fake data so I can run some tests as I work on confidential stuff I cannot use directly. For example, they other day I asked for 30 super hero name, last name, gender and DOB table just to pick from. I could easily do it by hand as it does not have to be accurate at all, but it was faster to prompt than to just randomly type and I did not care if it missed the prompt (very rare scenario IMO)

The problem was created by Provinces cutting funds to universities and education in general... Universities made up the shortfall by using International Students which was a Federally enabled escape valve.

This has been the game of mostly conservative Provincial Premiers; cut everything and blame it on the Feds.

I do feel for some of the legit universities but from what I see, the vast majority of the money milked from International Students did not go to improve the level of education (barely has moved in the last few years) and mostly went to "Mall universities" which are borderline a scam, all stamped and approved by the Provincial gov.

The list of countries where Americans can legally migrate to (permanently) is very short. I bet OP "chose" Taiwan due to some personal circumstance not applicable to most Americans

No gov should allow their data in Microsoft hands simply based on this...

While I want both to be true, he’s betting against governments wanting actionable intelligence on each and every citizen

Not at all... governments can keep that even if ALL commercial AI disappears today. The gov wanting this would keep the tech alive but not commercially viable at all; if anything, the gov would prefer to have it all to themselves and keep whatever advantage it's supposed to provide.

AI, in and of itself, if not more privacy intrusive than: cellphones, facebook, google suite, etc

However, I am still dumbfounded on how 42% voted for the other guy. He is literally a sexual assaulter and he was endorsed by Trump and Elon Musk! How is it that so many people still voted for him?

because too many Americans still think "wE aRE NoT thEre YEt!"

Hi Lemmy,

I want to do a project that involves concrete. Basically I am making steps, giving them texture and stamping them so it looks somewhat like stones.

I have watched a million videos and I feel I can tackle this, plus I have a lot of areas to practice that won't be too visible so if the steps look a bit amateur it's fine.

My biggest question is about the effort of mixing concrete. I have a corded drill with a mixing paddle and most steps won't require much. However a few are larger and I would have to mix 10 bags or so. The drying time allows me to work one at a time and then do my stamping but I was wondering if this is feasible from an effort perspective.

I am an experienced DIYer but have not worked much with concrete, I made a coffee table, post bases, etc but never something that requires so many bags... am I setting myself up for failure / a broken back? hehehe

"Unexpectedly"... who would have thought that taking a chainsaw to all establish trade could be an issue?!
