On a serious note, don't forget your partners in favor of kids (and vice versa)

It's important to pay close attention to both, and have what it takes to spark it with your partners even when you're parenting.

Don't put someone on the first place.

Any family that revolves around the children, will start tearing itself apart. The parental partnership should be the center of it. It provides the strength to teach and guide the kids, while not being led astray.

[–] Allero@lemmy.today 7 points 6 days ago

Exactly! Parents are the first people the kid looks on as their family model, and only together can they provide the best care.

It's in the best interest of your child to be a happy loving couple first and foremost.

[–] sockenklaus@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

That's easier said than done....

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

It's far from easy. That's partly why it's so important. They instinctively want to make you orbit around them. Without your combined strength counterbalancing this, they have no true reference to grow around.

True, but that doesn't make it any less important

I'm lucky to have enough energy after doing what I am required to do every day, to acknowledge my spouse and make us some dinner.

Nevermind paying close attention to anything.

Luckily, my SO isn't crazy and understands that we're both busy with work pretty consistently. So there's no real friction here. I know I'm fortunate to be in that situation, and I wouldn't even suggest that's not the case.

At first I was 'damn! What a terrible person!' Then I realize she is referring to their son, and I was 'awwwwww!'

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 6 days ago

You shouldn't allow anyone to treat you like that. It's abusive. I say dump the son. Dumpsters are great.

Why's the baby throwing their clothes away every few days tho? That's one fast growing baby.

[–] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It can be really bad for the first two weeks. Babies can go through many sizes quickly. Plus, some clothes bought before babe is born will just never fit.

[–] enbiousenvy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I never had to deal with anything baby and I just realize baby clothing is its own problem. I think in the case of my parents, they are gifting the clothes to relatives or neighbors who's having a baby.

Because I've heard a few times over the years when a relative's having a baby, my parent would dug up old clothes bag to find unused baby clothes. I've also overheard other relatives doing the same. Not sure if this is just my family culture, I really never had to talk about baby clothes economy with anyone.

In my village there is a donation place drop stuff they don't need anymore and take what they need. Half of our kid clothing, it's great ! A lot of my kids clothing come from there, and go back there once they outgrew it.

Pedo wife?

Smh.

Edit: oh nevermind, it's their son. Lol

[–] bathing_in_bismuth@sh.itjust.works 23 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yo can we get a tour through your thought process? Quite the adventure I feel

[–] Harbinger01173430@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Thought process?

I just create images in my mind based on text input.

[–] Squirrelsdrivemenuts@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I somehow reached the end of this thinking it was a dog she fell in love with, not a human baby.

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

I prefer this interpretation.

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago

Ha, got me. So true, though. Maybe not at that age, but I always tell my wife (and kids) that it took time for me to really love them. Now, forget it, wife is an easy third place, AINEC.

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

Ya had me going for a min.

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 6 days ago

"I think it's a little early to start imposing roles on it, don't you?"

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

And your hubby doesn't love him too? Drop the bum

[–] whimsy@lemmy.zip 105 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] dunz@feddit.nu 40 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

[–] EffortlessEffluvium@lemmy.zip 3 points 6 days ago

If you think he is selfish now, just wait till you're 2 years into the relationship. Everything will be "mine" and he will control the house.

Can confirm. Have three freeloaders who eat all my food and think they control the TV remote while contributing nothing except a wake of destruction wherever they go.

This is your best one yet, OP. 😂
