Lib. "Crony capitalism" is not a thing. It's just capitalism. There is no form of capitalism that doesn't involve cronyism, that is just the natural conclusion of private ownership.

[–] appropriateghost@lemmy.ml 38 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I agree with you 100%, and Marx was very clear that capitalism is filled with theft and oppression. It's nice that Marx also at times rested his critique of capitalism abstracting all the crony-ness and analyzed capitalism with 'good intentions,' showing that even without the oppression/theft it's a failed system.

edit: misread!

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 17 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Then why did you call it that lol

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I like to blatantly call it out for those that are still struggling with it. I understand for those like us, it is redundant.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 38 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

That is not only not helpful but actually bad. You're just muddying the waters.

The communists disdain to hide their views and aims

You are doing the opposite of blatantly calling it out you are reinforcing those who may be still struggling to understand in their assumption that this is the "bad" capitalism and leaving open the idea there is some sort of "good" capitalism.

I am to please. (unless you are bourgeoisie then I aim to do a different thing but I still aim).

Building an opulent ballroom while making sure millions will lose their homes, go without healthcare, and starve? This sounds like the last days of the French monarchy.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 65 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's actually just a distraction. The real corruption is the 5 trillion in tax cuts for billionaires and the 1 trillion in healthcare cuts for Medicaid to partially for it. If you're talking millions you're being distracted.

The scary part about the ballroom is that he wouldn't be building it at the WH if he expected to be out of there in 3 years. He'd be building it at Mar-a-Lago or something.

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 28 points 3 weeks ago

Unidentified donors, also known as taxpayers.

I would think this guy was being so over-the-top cartoonishly evil on purpose just to get us to grow a spine and rise up to overthrow the corrupt government if we were actually growing a spine and rising up to overthrow the government.

It won't happen, under Capitalism, they have a large part of the working class, PMC class, walking on a salary vs debt thin edge, too afraid to change anything because their world would fall apart. It is a devious plan and it works, prevents them from grabbing pitchforks, and often even attacking those that are trying to rise up against the oligarchs.

One of the new episodes of Gumball has the answer to this. I never thought I'd see a kids show so blatantly just say it... EAT. THE. RICH.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I haven't seen any of the episodes in the years. But considering the creator of the show is French. If there ever was going to be one, it would be his lol.

[–] groolthedemon@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I recommend the new series. It's a bit more adult. It's kind of more grown up just like the kids that watched the original are more grown up so far. I'm 5 episodes in and it's solid. Still retains that same frenetic spirit.

No, no, no. He and his buddies are going to pay for it! They all just came into an unexpected windfall when a bunch of poors decided they didn't need their healthcare anymore!

Is it to celebrate the release of the Epstein files?

Noo, Trump. You forgot that your ~~palace~~ seat of government needs to be outside of the city so you can have even more control over the ~~royalty~~ totally democratically elected politicans by making them kiss your rancid rear while being out of their offices. You already have the make-up part & ridiculous hair-do down so well.

What? Americans were supposed to be getting healthcare from the government? Since when?

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 weeks ago

Since day 1:

certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Can't survive, let alone pursue happiness, without healthcare and can't have liberty without either.

mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government

You are here.
