And are there any you would support if you had just that little bit of extra disposable income?

I stopped because I’m unemployed currently. But I supported a few 3d artists.

SponsorBlock. I watch hours of youtube a day and it's improved so much by SB. It's the creator's full-time job so I chip in to support the project. I'd be sad if it went away.

[–] ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com 3 points 13 hours ago

That’s a lot of youtube

[–] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 20 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Defunctland and Technology Connectios. I just really want those dudes to keep making stuff. A 2 hour documentary on the history and merits of the FastPass system at Disneyland or how a dishwasher works is soooooo my cup of tea.

[–] SuperEars@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago

+1 for Technology Connections <3

Lions Led by Donkeys! It’s a great podcast for history nerds!

[–] lazylion_ca@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago

How different is it from WTYP?

AnyAustin is one I would consider. I did support OboeShoesGames for a while but he moved more to streams instead of shorter snarky videos.

Too many ...

Mostly educational channels. I have to go and sort some out again ... I'm above $100 per month ...

I really hate monthly subscriptions. The only two I could justify are my $5/m VPN and 3/m discord just bc I used it so much.
Recently I changed discord to $1 to Wikipedia, $1 to archive.org, $1 to Lemmy. It's not a lot but gives me peace of mind.

Currently Souls Remnant, though only the lowest tier because I am broke

[–] allidoislietomyself@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Special Books by Special Kids. He and his wife interview people with different disabilities and give you a little peek into their lives. Really interesting and inspiring stuff.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago

Currently just Jeff Gerstmann, my favorite video games journalist

[–] Menschlicher_Fehler@feddit.org 14 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Not many. I had to stop myself or else my list would look like remon's.

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 15 hours ago

+1000 for Bobby Fingers. Clearly you have good taste.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

Civvie has some great stuff if you're into arena/arcade style shooters. His Blood review is classic

[–] FeelzGoodMan420@eviltoast.org 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Zero. I hate subscriptions. Idc what it's for.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 2 points 8 hours ago

I personally think that's valid. Do you ever make one-time donations?

[–] HelixDab2@lemm.ee 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

InRangeTV and A Better Way 2A.

I've met other supporters of both groups, and they've all been pretty cool people.

I'm strongly considering supporting Galen Druke's GD Politics now that FiveThirtyEight has been shuttered.

[–] KittenBiscuits@lemm.ee 5 points 15 hours ago

Just a handful, but I usually will add a new one when it hooks me enough that I can't stop binging it.

[–] FallenStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 hours ago

Right now its just Second Thought, I'm a leftist and love the content he creates. His video on East Palistine is really good and I would recommend it

I tend to avoid subscriptions where I can, so the only time I've ever used Patreon was to access Dankpods' After Show (back when it was exclusive for patrons).

I really should give myself $200 or so to dole out between my favourite creators and open-source projects.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 2 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

Here's my list, it's fairly random:

lol if someone wants to explain why they downvoted that'd be nice too. lmao.

[–] mysticpickle@lemmy.ca 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Besides yahtzee, Frost was the only other guy on second wind producing anything remotely watchable. I unsubbed the moment he left.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 2 points 12 hours ago

Yup! Second Wind used to be on my Patreon as well until Frost left.

[–] UncleArthur@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago

I'd throw some money at the 'free' ones if I could afford to.

I support Infinite Backlog because I want to see that site thrive. Haven't found any other site where I can keep track of my videogame collection as nicely as with IB. That's my only Patreon thingy.

I support Extra Fabulous Comics and a comic called "The Lost Never Die."

Extra Fabulous never ceases to make me laugh, and The Lost Never Die is a newer comic with an art style that I love.

[–] crony@lemmy.cronyakatsuki.xyz 2 points 16 hours ago

Honestly none. I don'y have thr expendable income to do that.

If I had, it couled easilly be 50+ youtubers, podcasters open source software devs, ...
