Most of my original subs come from .world so I don’t know what’s worth following on .ml, lemmygrad, hexbear, etc.

Maybe I could even extend this question to what communities in non major instances are worth subing too.

lemmygrad and hexbear are Marxist-Leninist

might not be a good idea unless you consider yourself to be a Marxist-Leninist

also, there were once a fascist instance exploding-heads that were defederated by many instances, they no-longer exist, but it just shows not every ban is unjustified

i suspect that hexbear is the most active instance on lemmy by far; but if it wont be good for you if you can't handle genz/gena sensibilities or are not atleast vehemently anti-capitalist.

Looking at FediDB (which seems a little broken), it seems like Lemmy.World is tripling their monthly posts.

i think it's a symptom of the sensibilities of genz clashing with older generations; sort of like millennials clashing with boomers but to a MUCH more significant degree.

Looking at FediDB (which seems a little broken), it seems like Lemmy.World is tripling their monthly posts.

you can see how well above it's weight hexbear is punching when it comes to active users; communities like slop, badposting, and chapotraphouse in particular.

Uncounted users means fewer posts per user.

For .ml, it's a mostly FOSS/adjacent subjects enthusiast instance, so you may be interested in communities like !privacy@lemmy.ml, !linux@lemmy.ml.

You can go to the specific instance you have in mind and browse "Local" every once in a while.

Well, if you want a sense of what the founder on .ml believes in, go to worldnews@lemmy.ml.

07 to Alsephina, shreddiebiologist, Peter Link, Arthur Besse, IndustryStandard, NightOwl, yogthos etc.

A sense of what the geopolitical fowks on Hexbear believe in, go to news@hexbear.net, specifically their megathreads (sometimes they reach 1000 comments, sometimes maybe 2 or 3 kilos)

for lemmygrad.ml's beliefs, just check any news area there (no big megathreads there; tis a small site there)
