News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

MODERATORS

So many people were bootlicking Andy Yen in the Reddit thread. Where the commenters were attacking the poster for suggesting that he should resign from the ceo position for praising Donald Trump and then doubling down on the original statement using the official proton account.

Not surprising.

Left-leaning people already left, this is to be expected

When I check the subreddits from my country its mostly left content. I really don't have that feeling although I think its not as politically onesided as it is here

AND deranged. I posted a comment about the blow back that seniors are going to feel from the disruption among staffing in the caregiving field, and got banned from a sub, along with comments that I was "calling for elder abuse". It was fun while it lasted, but I am DONE looking forward to watching Lemmy explode

The majority of reddit content is bots, shills, and astroturfing

[–] Mwa@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

And there is some people who still use it (30%?).

I mean, all the leftists on Reddit... left.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago

Exactly over 2 years now I far left and got the fuck off Reddit. Soon as RIF died I left.

There are also several posts on whether or not Elon Musk did the Nazi salute (many of which are denying it) and being against women.

Reddit is a shell now, and they're desperately filling it with AI.

Old search results, mostly.

Reddit has always been right wing. I've seen the comments on us arabs on terrorist attacks. Fucking disgusting.

[–] gimmelemmy@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

Once upon a time I got called a terrorist WHILE I was performing on a community theater stage. The bright spot was how quickly my fellow actors and the rest of the patrons shut that down

please, dont go on Instagram reels.

Has it, or were there always pockets of all kinds of schools of thought? It seemed that way to me at least until Spez decided money was more important than anything else and a good chunk of the left-leaners decided they'd be better off elsewhere.

That's not a pejorative, by the way. I'm a left-leaner. And I, well, left.

[–] fxomt@lemm.ee 10 points 2 days ago

I'd say i'm very left wing, too. But reddit always felt off to me, like i wasn't meant to be there. I see why now, due to them saying this stuff about us when they can.

but the majority are just conservatives/faux-liberals who'd sell you out and your race for their own convenience, anyway.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

It was much less overt and fascistic in like 2011, fuck I’m old

[–] kryptonidas@lemmings.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The racism is definitely there, you can scroll like three posts on trending and there it is again. One of the main reasons I left.

[–] fxomt@lemm.ee 5 points 2 days ago

I was going to screenshot some examples from a single thread, but there were too fucking many. Holy shit.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 6 points 2 days ago

Why ya reading it?

[–] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's a garbage site full of garbage people. Except for the people that I like on Reddit.

[–] 200ok@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

All of this is gibberish to me, and yet it makes perfect sense.
