I have two kids, and the longest time I've wanted to share my games with them but Steam's previous Family share implementation was horrible. If my son played Game X and I logged in to Game Y he would be booted out. I also didn't like that he had access to my 900+ game library, including violent games.

Fast forward to today, and I now have him set up as a child account and created a child account for my daughter as well. I can play Street Fighter VI while he gets into Monster Hunter World and my daughter is enjoying Peppa Pig.

No I know I'm an exception as I have 4 gaming capable PCs + a Steam Deck, whereas most PC gamers will have only one gaming PC. This is where the cheap LCD SD comes in. Instead of buy an overpriced Playstation or Switch, along with $70 games and annual online service fees, a parent can buy a discounted Steam Deck, add their kids to their family and proceed to share only select games they've accumulated over the years, while also limiting the store, social aspects and more should they choose to.

I don’t know if you guys had similar experiences to me, but I tried playing through the Elden Ring DLC on Steam Deck shortly after beating it on PS5. The problem was, I would run into pretty jank frame drops around Castle Front site of Grace. Didn’t really try to go elsewhere. My game would also crash pretty frequently, causing my entire deck to freeze.

Since the most recent patch, it’s now sitting at a stable 30 fps in most areas in the early areas of the DLC. Played for 30 minutes last night and didn’t hit any crashes. I haven’t progressed that far in the story or beaten any bosses yet but I’m hoping it stays stable towards endgame in DLC.

Let me know if you’ve tried it or gotten farther in the DLC on SD than I have!

All Forza games are on sale. FH4 got -80%. Propably it's a best chance to get it, before Microsoft will remove it.

Just a FYI, it might be lower in the Autum sale but I pulled the trigger now rather than risk it since it won't be avaliable for sale at all as of December 15th

Lollipop Chainsaw currently runs really badly, as there are no graphics settings to change, except for resolution.

However, you can actually change settings, but you need to go to desktop mode and tweak an INI file. By lowering settings you can achieve 60 FPS at 720p. I hope they will allow us to change settings in-game with a patch.

To change settings navigate to: /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2658450/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/lollipop/saved/config/windows When there open GameUserSettings.ini and you can tweak settings. Change settings in row 3-12 from 3 to 1, and you should get a much better performance. You can play with it yourself.

Hey guys, I'm the dude from a few days ago who got his first conso-... I mean PC lol at the age of 25. Just wanted to say thanks for all the support and comments everyone gave, they were all super helpful and I've learned more about the deck in these past few days than I had over the 2 or so months that I've had it, also another thanks to the two guys who gifted me RYSE:Son of rome and Mad max.

Honestly didn't expect such a positive reception as I've never used reddit prior to this week but I'm glad everyone on this sub was so welcoming, so once more, thanks. I really really appreciate you all.

Apparently patch 9 has come out with performance improvements and removed DRM! Hope this helps performance on the steam deck. If anybody gets a chance to try it out please let us know if they can tell a difference!

Just thought I'd write in to let you all know I'm currently travelling through Europe/ the UK and my steam deck has been an absolute life saver for making those 11 hour plane trips and airport layovers bareable.

So pleased with this purchase and bloody loving playing through all the Halos.
