I’m literally just about to order my first SteamDeck & looking for some help on games to buy.

Currently I own a Nintendo Switch & I’m a huge fan of Animals Crossing, also really enjoy some of the Final Fantasy series.

I’m struggling a bit with mental health at the moment & I’d love to hear your suggestions of any cozy games that you can recommend.

I’m a huge fan of RPGs & farming sims, right now leaning more towards either no or little combat.

Please help me start my game collection with some titles you think would be good!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read ☺️

Hey everyone! There is a PlayStation publisher sale right now, and I have a few of the games on my wishlist. I don’t have a PS5 or standard PC, so this is my only way to play them. Between performance on the steam deckand actual enjoyment of the game, which game would you guys recommend from the following?

Ghosts of Tsushima/Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart/God of War /Spider-Man/Spider-Man: Miles Morales

A brand-new LCD Steam Deck with 512GB is available on sale for 352 euros right now. It comes with a 1-year guarantee, which is always nice and rare to find on eBay (or similar websites), where the price is around 300 euros for a 512GB model.

The OLED 512GB costs 569 euros, but it may get a discount during Black Friday or the Winter Sale.

Do you think the original Steam Deck is good enough? Let's put it another way: is the OLED version worth the difference?

I want it mainly for light games (indies and emulation), in case it helps.

But it's sure as hell a good distraction that keeps my inner child happy! I don't know where I would be without it by now.

Thanks Valve!

I keep seeing some posts about FSR and how it helps with performance.

I see how I can change it natively under the performance tab.

What about games that have an in game setting for FSR? Does that need to be changed too? When game settings guides list “FSR 3”, do they mean the deck own FSR setting or the in game setting? Thanks

Original Title: Hotel Dusk: Room 215. A hidden gem from the DS. Took me forever to find a DS emulator where I could figure out how to setup the dual screens side by side with the gap in the middle so it would display properly.

This game has gone on sale prior to it being delisted, and lots of deck owners are interested.

So if you're anything like me, youve been trying to maximise how good it looks.

You may have problems with the image quality as the game isn't truly optimised

Here's some basic problems and solutions:

"The game won't run in 16:10" - Try setting it to 1200x800 in gaming mode.

"The game only shows a black screen" - Go into Desktop mode, launch game, change to Windowed mode in settings.

"I can't press anything in the login menu" - Provided you can see the window, it should work in gaming mode. Mess with the scaling in the quick settings menu - Change to "fit" and you should be able to squish the login window onto your screen. You can then type into it. Use the touch screen. For some reason the touchpad won't work in desktop mode.

"The game is in 16:10 but the resolution looks blurry" - This is because the game is running in Windowed mode and the window probably isn't fullscreen. There are two methods to fix this.

  1. Make sure the new "maximum game resolution" advanced display setting in Gaming Mode is set to Default. The game will otherwise think your aspect ratio is whatever you've set it to here and it will never scale correctly.
  2. Set the specific game resolution to something greater than 1200x800, then set it back again. This will fix the window scaling.

"My image looks blurry in HDR mode" - For some reason toggling HDR changes the window size. Follow the above process with HDR enabled. Then when it resets to 800p, it will be scaled correctly and sharp.

"The colours are desaturated in HDR mode" - Exacerbated greatly by above scaling issue. Again follow the scaling fix and see if it's still a problem. Check your steamdeck's brightness is turned to 75% or 100% and raise ingame brightness if necessary. This is an old hdr implementation and it isn't perfect either.

Anyway once you've solved the image issues, I recommend either setting to Low 90fps or Ultra 45fps. Turn off Dynamic Scaling.

Turn off Vsync. If limiting to 45fps, set ingame to 90fps and limit with the Steamdeck's own fps quick setting.

The game struggles with keeping a framerate. It doesn't actually stick to 45fps using its own setting, it goes to 58. If you have vsync on, the game may also lag greatly, to 22fps in my case, so keep it off.

Anyway this was how i got it to a very nice 45fps on ultra settings with decent hdr and good image quality. It's fiddly as the game is made specifically for Windows.

Will work with newer Proton versions or Experimental.

Not asking which is better. Im asking which game is more playable on Steam Deck LCD version. Playable means 40 fps+ stable most of the time. And few crush/ bug.

I have two kids, and the longest time I've wanted to share my games with them but Steam's previous Family share implementation was horrible. If my son played Game X and I logged in to Game Y he would be booted out. I also didn't like that he had access to my 900+ game library, including violent games.

Fast forward to today, and I now have him set up as a child account and created a child account for my daughter as well. I can play Street Fighter VI while he gets into Monster Hunter World and my daughter is enjoying Peppa Pig.

No I know I'm an exception as I have 4 gaming capable PCs + a Steam Deck, whereas most PC gamers will have only one gaming PC. This is where the cheap LCD SD comes in. Instead of buy an overpriced Playstation or Switch, along with $70 games and annual online service fees, a parent can buy a discounted Steam Deck, add their kids to their family and proceed to share only select games they've accumulated over the years, while also limiting the store, social aspects and more should they choose to.

This is a game changer.
