Breaking News! The thing we told you was going to happen for the past 50 years is definitely still happening!

[–] tomiant@programming.dev 1 points 4 minutes ago

There will be the concept of an election.

It's so dark watching this happen around you, civilization sleepwalking into a dystopian pit of despair. At this point I'm feeling like nothing can stop this bar total societal collapse, and that will not be particularly pleasant either...

Democracy ain't a thing in the US no more. Genuinely, that concept is dead, rule of law is gone, elections don't matter, it's done, it's over. It's fucking bleak, but I don't think there is any coming back from this, and frankly, it ruins my whole day.

Company Replaces Its Customers With AI - Solves World Hunger

Yes, your child will not be bullied and everyone will think extra highly of them. It also reflects positively on you as a parent and highlights to everyone how your particular kid is more special than others.

I've been saying this for yeeears. People shouldn't be near as afraid of AI as they should be of the people in charge of it.

How out of the loop are you people? That has been a thing for a while, we've got more than a handful high profile AI religions and cults out there already...

The vast majority of conversations I have with people on a daily basis are on an order of magnitude more moronic than the ones I have with AI. So that also plays a part.

Not really. A mirror shows an actual reflection of yourself. An AI response is a highly curated version of a particular subset of ideas, in fact, the more I think about it the more this analogy straight up implodes.

You make it sound as if every system is perfectly equal, and that all humans are the same, and that nothing we choose or decide matters at all and that the only form of existence is the one we are seeing right now.

Jesus christ if this was a film you'd happily be hooked up to a bunch of tubes in a goo pod pretending you're free.

Yeah you say so but I'm very much not so sure about that.

Calm down, Hitler.

No, I mean, really!
