This the first time I have seen someone say apt is better than pacman.

I had to uninstall thermal monitor applet. Is there a thermal applet for Plasma 6?

You can sync Floorp with Firefox Android or Mull.

We never knew. Fortunately electric tootbrushes saved us.

Will it remember second screen settings? It resets after every sleep on Kde5 wayland.

Neo Store was already doing this.

Can't read. It says you need an account.

I set up a server using an old laptop just for Nextcloud and Jellyfin. After installation I realized that Nextcloud Snap files are kept in the root directory and there is no way to move them to the Home.

The Arch Wiki says that Jellyfin cannot access your Home, and suggest creating /media directory for it.

Based on these, do I need to partition the whole disk into a single partition? If I do that, won't I lose all my data in case of changing distro?

I mean is it right to install without Home partition?

Edit:

  • Today I learned that I can allocate /var as a seperate partition.
  • It is possible to give Jellyfin permission to access /home.
  • @Bronco1676@lemmy.ml is right, using Nextcloud Snap on Arch Linux is not the preffered choice, it is better to use it on Xubuntu LTS. I am grateful to him.
  • I think partitioning like this, will be good:
/
/var
/home

Why are apps like Fairemail, Voyager, etc. updated so often? Why don't they collect the changes and release them once a month or something like that?

It's interesting that every time I open Voyager I see an update warnin at the bottom. Is that really required?

Telegram, the encrypted messaging app, has quietly restricted access to several channels affiliated with the Palestinian armed group Hamas.

Hamas’s official account, the account of its armed wing the Qassam Brigades, and the news account Gaza Now have not been accessible on versions of Telegram downloaded from Google Play or Apple’s App Store since last week.

I got this error when I run pacman -Syu this morning:

I think it's not my fault. Should I wait or find a solution myself?

I want to build my own cloud with Raspberry Pi, but I don't know which hardware to buy.

Will it be enough if I buy a Raspberry Pi 5 and two SSDs?

The Mozilla Firefox 118 web browser is now available for download ahead of its official release on September 26th, when it will be rolling out to various of the supported platforms.

I consider Firefox 118 a major release because it finally brings the built-in translation feature for websites. Previously planned for Firefox 117, the new translation feature will let you automatically translate websites from one of the supported languages to another.

The translation feature can be accessed from a new “Translate page” menu entry in the application menu (the hamburger menu on the far right side of the window). When clicked, a pop-up dialog will open in place to let you choose the languages you want to translate from and to.

Using Voyager on Desktop (iusearchlinux.fyi)

I enjoy using Voyager on the phone. Today I discovered that I can also use it on the desktop. I've added it as a website to Floorp's sidebar, so I can browse Lemmy just as smoothly as on the phone.

Thank you very much for this great app.
