https://wgntv.com/news/chicago-news/video-daycare-teacher-detained-by-ice-agents-on-chicagos-north-side/

An SUV of federal agents followed the teacher’s vehicle to the day care, then proceeded to follow her into the building — where children were in attendance at the time.

Video from the scene captured two agents dragging the teacher from the day care, taking her into custody. According to Congressman Mike Quigley, the agents did not have a warrant.

Drawing on successful models in critical minerals mining and processing, submarine shipbuilding, and munitions acceleration, DOW will structure deals that unlock private capital through advance market commitments, risk-sharing mechanisms, and commercial-like incentive structures,” the memo reads.

Successful by what metric, profits extracted? As far as I'm aware, the west is pitifully behind in all of these areas, but what do metrics like "actual production capacity" matter anyways i-love-not-thinking

sicko-biker literally me this week doing neighborhood ice patrols with my whistle and armband. I feel like a dorky hall monitor, but I have either managed to scare a few off (they've been getting spooked when they know they're spotted) or freaked out some rando suv drivers with illegally-tinted windows. Either way, win.

Nazi dorks continue to terrorize Chicago. I remember someone posted a photo shoot of the guy with the white crew cut doing his best 1940's nazi impressions, but googling variations of "ice nazi guy" simply aren't narrow enough search terms to find this specific chud. Edit: This guy

And not to give the impression that they're just bumbling incompetent losers, I mean they are, but I am unfortunately still seeing daily reports of people being abducted, including entire landscaping crews and multiple people dragged from their cars.

It's unsettling, but it's also normal.

Finally, science (LLM slop) has distilled neoliberal thought to its most basic essence

A couple of these are good for playing around with Meshtastic. Just make sure to select the 915mhz models if you're in the US (otherwise check what frequency is used in your region).

Edit: Here is another pair of units at a similar price, but with included enclosures.

Nextdoor is 50% lost pet posts and 50% Totally Real™ conversations Your Neighbors® are having about their new [walk-in tub/gutter system] that they totally just had installed. I'm sure pumping it full of even more hyperlocal copganda, for our local busybodies to comment the most racist shit imaginable on, will round it out nicely!

Really feels like we're in a situation where, given these assumptions:

  • Iran commits to their stated war goal of punishing Israel until they dare to never strike Iran ever again.

  • Iran has sufficient capabilities and internal popular support to do such. (And every analysis I've seen suggests they likely do on both counts.)

Then one of these two outcomes must occur:

  • Either, the US enters the war, and Iran's retaliatory strikes on oil infrastructure and trade routes absolutely fuck the world economy, and have a serious possibility of triggering WW3.

  • Or, the US doesn't enter the war with Iran, and Israel likely loses an attrition war against Iran. I dont really see how this doesn't eventually lead to the collapse of Israel.

That second option comes with the scary question of "will Israel resort to using its nukes?" So I guess that's another route to WW3.

Idk, I'm no expert and I'm open to hearing other likely ways for this to play out, but this is where my head is at given all the information I've been absorbing so far.

The researchers estimate that the lenses cost around US$200 per pair to make.

Researchers have made the first contact lenses to convey infrared vision — and the devices work even when people have their eyes closed.

Soon, it will not even be an exaggeration to say that China is beating the US with their eyes closed kelly
