Freeciv is not free-to-play, it's Free Software.

When I was in high school, I convinced my parents to sign me up for Japanese classes on the weekend because the sequel to my favorite game didn't get translated. Didn't end up getting all that far in it, my ADHD/autistic ass had a hard time paying attention in class and I had too much actual schoolwork to keep up with so I kinda just didn't do the homework.

But last year I started getting back into it just for fun, and I am having a lot of fun learning. Helps that I can go at my own pace without any pressure from being in school anymore. Still a long way from 日本語上手, but I passed a N4 mock exam and I just ordered a shipment of books and manga to try and see how far I can get. Saving up to travel in a few years too.

Honestly that's a good enough idea that I don't think it even needs to be a conspiracy, they could openly advertise it.

To be fair, Kirby Air Ride is finally getting a sequel, and that may as well be the only racing game we'll ever need ever again.

Propaganda is powerful. You convince your followers that some classes of people don't deserve kindness, you convince them that everything out of Hollywood is part of a leftist agenda, and once they believe both of those statements it's very easy to spin this as further proof of the narrative they've already bought into.

I don't think you understand the point I'm making here.

Dehumanization is what Nazis do. Don't gaze into the abyss so long that you start thinking like them.

I think it is essential to remind ourselves that Nazis are people, that Naziism is an evil that mankind is capable of. In order to effectively fight Nazis, we must pay attention to how real people get suckered in by Nazi propaganda. The second you start othering them is the second you lose the fight because you willfully stopped paying attention.

It would not be onerous for them to continue supporting a couple of old versions of Windows, they would just have to hire a few more people to do it.

You literally did say support.

I am aware that some corporate infrastructure is hopelessly tangled up in legacy systems. But we are talking about consumer support here, which I know you know is very different.

Fighting games. There's a reason the FGC still puts so much emphasis on offline play. Go to your locals, go to majors, don't just sit there playing ranked at home!

Why would a smaller screen make framerate not matter? Textures and resolution, sure, but framerate always matters.

Summary:

Many games see noticeable improvements, but how much of an improvement will vary. Games that are bottlenecked by GPU or memory bandwidth benefit significantly, whereas CPU-bound titles only see small improvements.

Arkham Knight, famously one of the Switch's worst ports, is now a playable 30fps. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is... playable but still not great, building as much as possible to stress test the hardware can drop to single digit framerates on Switch 1, that's now around ~20-22fps here. These are the two most demanding titles tested, which means that most everything else came out pretty good.

The obvious caveat here is that games cannot exceed hardcoded targets. Games with uncapped framerates and dynamic resolution will be able to take advantage, but capped framerates and fixed resolutions must remain so.
