Cutting off their testicles and straight up executing them would also reduce the offending rates. Even more effectively than chemical castration, I'm sure. But we wouldn't be calling that helping the offender, would we? And the comment above was specifically talking about helping them.
What we have now is more of a best middle ground between the amount of damage caused to the patient and safety guarantees for the society. We obviously prioritize safety for the society, but we should be striving for less damage to the patient, too.

Same, I can't read more than a couple of pages of a textbook. But I'll listen to spoken information very intently for hours on end (with an occasional break). Is that common with ADHD?
I've never seen that being used, but it seems it's a thing in English. What if you wanna best deeper? Do you go {}? Then <>? «»?
Not as good as my other primary languages, I have to admit. Finnish has too many consonants for my taste.
Some of those parens could've been replaced with commas and retain their meaning (that's what I do to avoid nesting, so that it doesn't get confusing).
I usually see downvotes on comments that go against hexbear. Maybe bears with accounts on multiple instances.
Yeah, I saw that there are very few downvotes on hb posts and assumed they are disabled for the instance. But I do still see some downvotes. Are those coming from other instances?
Woah, didn't think I would guess the CD-i thing.
Wonder who downvoted me and why.
True. I intend to live forever and so far so good.
No, I can't. Doesn't mean that we (as a society) shouldn't be working on finding ways to do it or finding alternative solutions. And it's necessary to acknowledge that what we have now is not good enough.
They probably did. But nobody here is claiming those were good or helping the patients either.
