assumptions assumptions!

your presumption is that you'd be a better therapist, not a worse one, if you have more shared experiences with the client. that's not something current evidence supports.

empathy means we strive to understand one another, not presume we understand them based on our own experiences. THAT is how bad therapy happens. and self-disclosure is a crutch for poor rapport building skills.

without the shared experiences, there can be more drive for empath and mutual understanding. the feeling of being understood by someone outside your group can be transformative.

In truth, positive outcomes have little correlation with therapist-client demographics. the demographic differential does alter what the course of therapy might look like, but not the outcomes.

the line of man is straight ; the line of god is crooked

stop quoting Nietzsche you fucking fools

I'm not cheering for him. it's all theater. he's going to grasp at popularity now that he's gotten the deregulations he wants. maybe he'll go and abuse the minds of more young boys with that popularity too. that'll be a great way to stay rich and powerful for yrs to come

everyone replying that socks have a practical use, as if social constructs arent practical???

my issue is that even though "clothing" is a social construct, the stuff that socks are made out of is not. calling that stuff a sock is a social construct, but choosing to put the fabric on your body is not. becoming "clothed" is a social construct, but the unspecified uncategorized state of having that fabric on your body is just a physical state, not a construct. the meaning we apply to it is the thing that wouldn't exist without socially constructed systems of meaning.

It's kinda sad, i guess. I'm usually the first one to champion XYZ is a social construct, and have to deal with morons not understanding it, but here? no one is willing to say it?

Socks are not a social construct.

hygiene, engaging in a practice until hygienic, is a construct. the act of scrubbing your skin might not be

I've never heard of anyone using Thunderbird, but I hear about other Firefox users all the time.

I want a new email place. FUCK GMAIL 💥 FUCK GOOGLE! I had to use MS Office for work once, it was okay. Better than Gmail by a mile. But you seriously think I'm gonna use Microsoft? Well, what else is there? If Thunderbird is alright I think I should give it a try.

I also need to find a way to make a new not-gmail email domain. No idea where to go for that. Uh, does Thunderbird have anything?

I'm just so sick of Microsoft and Google. But there's two things holding me back:

  1. I wanna play Steam games on my PC

  2. I am just an amateur hobbyist, not a tech wizard

Is there any hope for me?
