No but if your primary source of protein is lacking an essential amino acid it's an issue. Pretty much anywhere that eats a lot of beans though also eats a lot of rice which is one of those magical combinations that early humans worked out and then stuck around until today.

There's a good chance that you already do this but beans (except for soybeans) aren't a complete protein source but adding rice supplements them perfectly. The stuff that's low in beans is high in rice and vice versa.

You should be safe then, the levels they're worried about are equivalent to the maximum levels allowed in about 500 milligrams of beans. That's a lot of milligrams right? There's no way people eat more than 500 of something.

For everybody freaking out, the line they've set for "high" is incredibly incredibly low. Like, their bar for concern is roughly the amount that Europeans with the lowest levels of lead exposure get per kilogram of body weight.

I would avoid the products at the high end of this spectrum and pretty much not worry about the rest. Also Gold Standard stays winning as always.
