Love this. I don't want to read books. I want to have read books. I heard that if you read a certain amount of books that when you die you get an achievement.

Been saying for years I wish I could spend less time lost in a good book and more time making my boss rich.

"No babe it's not rage bait because he cites his sources, I swear babe I won't yell at my screen all night again"

True. Doctorow is not exactly one to restrain himself in lieu of a stinging hyperbole.

I understand. Graphene seems like the best place to invest. It's a shame they are available on so few devices.

Which alternative ROMs will work with F-Droid after the changes to Android go through?

Data centers and power generation are IRL investments that are needed whether it’s for AI use or not.

Well said, and I think a good comparison (and something Doctorow has brought up before) is that the dot-com bubble built a ton of infrastructure and fiber networks that were later able to be utilized. He sort of touched on this when he said "Plan for a future where you can buy GPUs for ten cents on the dollar".

That all said, as Ed Zitron is oft to highlight, something like 30% of the value of the SNP 500 is in "AI" right now. Even a relatively small pop could lead to more widespread repercussions.

Will LineageOS, Graphene and /e/OS be affected by Google's changes to prevent sideloading? Is UbuntuTouch or Sailfish OS promising in the long term?

I understand that right now we are in a bad place, but in your opinion, what OS do you think people who care about freedom should rally around?

"Chaufferdriven" sounds like a city in Germany

But there are dozens of people in this very thread who if I am understanding correctly are willing to offer the same service for free to prove their point that Plex is evil.

If these catch on (unlikely imo) it's only a matter of time before I have an awkward interaction with someone when they come into my house wearing them...

Sorry to have annoyed you.

I have an aging Kindle and am looking for a new eReader to both read books and articles I've saved throughout the day. I use Wallabag to save articles. I like it over Pocket because it's better for paywalls because it fetches content directly from the browser.

I am leaning Kobo because of apps like Wallabako and KoReader (not exactly what that is yet but people seem to like it).

Anyone else have a similar setup or have any advice?
