My primary gaming is on Xbox and I still can't tell the hamburger and copy button icons apart without looking at them when a game refers to them in a tutorial or menu.
Disgustoid
Garak is arguably my favorite character in all of Trek, especially after reading "A Stitch in Time" which fleshes out his background considerably.
I don't think this is much of a spoiler but >!Garak basically becomes a regular without Andrew J. Robinson's name appearing in the opening credits. I don't have exact numbers but it feels like he appears in later seasons as much as Jake does!<.
This tool is great! Thanks for creating it and making it public.
Also, is this the first Lemmy Hug of Death? If so, congrats, I think?
There was at least one unnamed, previously unseen red shirt on the bridge as well. That was a hint there was going to be a body count. Of course, it could also mean that no one dies and the production staff are just playing into our expectations.
HOLY CRAP, I AM SO GLAD I WENT INTO THIS SPOILER FREE!!!1!
Someone posted earlier this week that it looked like Captain Batel was having a really bad day, and yup, she definitely was. My heart sank when she revealed the Gorn egg infestation. My money's on her being the sole "main" character casualty from the events of this episode.
I didn't know Scotty was going to show up so that was a total surprise. Finding out he was Pelia's perfect student who somehow flunked made all the sense in the world, ignoring the obvious small universe complaints.
I LOVED all the effects shots of the Cuyuga's debris field. I initially thought crashing the remains of the saucer section into the Gorn jammer was complete overkill, like throwing a dinner plate at a toothpick, but then realized the jammer must have been absolutely massive and far away from the settlement. It looked like it was relatively nearby upon initial viewing which didn't appear to be the case considering the explosion from when the saucer section hit it.
That cliffhanger, wow. I pray that they have the second half already written and aren't going to do like TNG and wait to write the conclusion. It was mentioned in the TNG Companion that the writers only wrote the first part of their season ending cliffhangers and waited until closer to filming to write and finalize the second part which doesn't seem like the best way to develop a strong resolution.
I love SNW so much. It's going to be an agonizing wait until the new season, probably 2025 at this point? Argh.
EDIT: I swear I didn't read any posts in this thread before posting my thoughts. I'm glad and amused to see we Trek fans had many of the same reactions!
Me neither. How long till old.reddit.com goes away? That was supposed to be the next big spike in the Lemmy growth curve.
I can't believe I read that whole thing. I take that back, I can't believe Reddit actually thought this was a good idea and put it out into the world.
I love the Enterprise-D so much I paid through the nose to get an Eaglemoss model of it for my work desk. I'm new to that whole side of collectibles and good lord, you can drop some serious coin on those.
Chicago has a weirdly high number of mattress chain stores. There's a stretch near me that has 3 of them in the span of 4 blocks. They've all been there for awhile and there's rarely ever anyone in them. No way these are legit businesses considering how often people buy mattresses.
Despite being a huge Trek fan, I forgot all about this show, having only seen a handful of episodes. The reviews here kind of have me wanting to actually watch it and see the slow motion trainwreck for myself.
For those who need a Klingon opera fix sooner, DS9's "Playing God" had the Klingon restaurant owner singing opera with Jadzia. Just watched this episode yesterday in my series rewatch. Not sure how to clip to a timestamp but it's about halfway into the video below:
I didn't think they'd skip the opportunity to give us singing Klingons but the end result was just...wow. chef's kiss
I absolutely love Pike's "exasperated" face. It's possibly a bit overused this season but it cracks me up every single time because it's how I'd probably react if I were in his shoes and it's so unlike how the previous Starfleet ship captains would react, even when the situation fully merited it.
WTF I thought my one order every one to one and a half weeks due to my sheer laziness was getting excessive.
As for Prime getting commercials, it's a good thing Prime somehow manages to have barely any content worth watching where they could possibly insert commercials for me. I'm assuming this will not apply to movies you pay to rent.
