It would be politically disastrous to back down now. At worst they will just throw missiles at each other for a few weeks.

Iran can only go on the offensive in the gulf and maybe if Iraq& Pakistan start helping them.

The UAE will react with military aggression if Iran blocks the strait of hormuz, its not relevant then. Thats why it will be one of the last red lines that iran will cross.
