I'm not from the US so I'm not seeing any of the repercussions first hand (yet...).
It's so surreal to be honest. We were always sold the image of a USA where everyone was well off.
Not trying to say I don't understand. I fully get what's happening, that it's fucked up and people are suffering. It's just like watching an illusion break apart.
America is well off. we had access to cheap goods and services, but agent orange and his tariffs stopped that.
even before though, there was a wide chasm between wealth and equality in this country. all he's managed to do is widen it further.
personally, I've been impacted. normally I would see at least $200-$400 increase in my savings every month. I'm fairly well off and I can appreciate that. Now with inflation and costs rising, I'm seeing my savings shrink $100-200 a month and we're just getting started. I've got enough savings to last me a couple years at this rate but should it increase further that expectation could turn to months, not years.

Donated money to the local food bank.
Several of my friends and family are active supporters of Philabundance and the Food Bank of South Jersey.
When I was younger, my parents would take me with them to a soup kitchen especially around Thanksgiving. My mom and grandmom are great cooks so they were in the kitchen helping, my dad and I are the clean-up crew and grandpa walked around like he owned the place, lol. This went on for years until my grandparents started having trouble walking.
Last week, our elders called in a family meeting. We are making Halloween care packages for some people we know that are in need, filled with non-perishable goods (mac & cheese, soup, tuna, tapioca, crackers, beans, spam, corned beef, etc.).
The kids’ trick-or-treat bags are the full-size Halloween themed grocery bags filled with pudding, mac & cheese cups, ramen cups, soup cups, chicken (flat pack not can), PB & Cheese crackers and some candy, too.
We usually do this after Halloween (for Thanksgiving and Christmas) and the Goddess of the Canned (me) would help collect and deliver.
Anyway, thank you for creating this post, OP. It will help highlight and spread the ~~word~~ fact about food insecurity. There are a lot of people out there thinking about whether to buy their medicine or buy food.
So, if anyone wants to help, there are plenty of places in your area. Monetary donations are also welcome.
I just donated to my local soup kitchen. They do lunch every day and dinner a few time a week. I can't believe we're really letting snap benefits run out. Just fucking embarrassing
I've been actively participating the the local mutual aid society for years, including a network of love fridges.
Asked my office to make a joint donation to the local food pantry. They have a really nice store where people can shop for preferred items instead of getting a pre-selected box.
Ask your company if they can do matching funds for your donation.
It's a school district. They constantly spend money on ridiculous shit but when i asked for $10 to buy a urinal bottle for a kid with MD they told me budget was closed for 3 weeks. Ok, great, I'll tell my student to hold it. Assholes!!! Few years ago they took away petty cash/reimbursement when we buy things for work.
Was gonna try and do that with the apartment building.
