I'm getting irrationally irate because of how stupid this is. Bad weather for an amphibious assault can cause you to lose your entire army.

Like obviously this poster wasn't thinking about this literally. But if my commanding officer said that I would consider it my responsibility to frag him.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah and it was literally postponed several times due to weather. This isn't some shit you just tough out.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago (2 children)

They couldn't even get planes off the ground because there was zero visibility. And when the weather cleared up, planes still ended up wildly off-course to the point it ended up being a case study of a botched attack.

Yeah Market Garden turned into an absolute shitshow.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

IIRC Market Garden was more due to the lack of supplies to reinforce paratroopers after they dropped, so they ended up having to retreat instead of pushing forward.

(D-Day was Operation Overlord)

(D-Day was Operation Overlord)

Right but they happened simultaneously more or less

[–] TheLastHero@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

Market Garden was in the Netherlands after Operation Overlord, which was the invasion of occupied France. It was a few months later. If you're thinking of the Airborne landings in Normandy as part of Overlord, that also had its own fair share if screw ups.

Tens of thousands of missed aircraft bombs from the looks of it

The silver lining to all this performatively and wilfully stupid toxic masculinity that they are injecting into the US military is that it degrades their ability to do evil.

It is probably going to have a lot of nasty spillover domestically and it is going to make Yankee stormtroopers even more brutal on an individual level but overall this is going to hurt morale, recruitment and the ability to adapt efficiently to situations.

Can't wait for half the troops to be laid up from eating nothing but meat and raw milk

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

I'm looking forward to the effects of firing everybody who isn't an active combat role and whoops there goes all the logistics.

[–] shath@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

what if we made professional soldiers act like fucking idiots instead

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

It's also pissing off a lot of the super education fairly libbed up generals that usually make up the general class of the US military and they're fucking pissed off at trump and hesgeth and some are leaving.

I'm not saying an officers rebellion is gonna happen but at the very least the US military is gonna lose a lot of its experience and gonna be ineffective.

It really is incredible they are so stupid and so incompetent they're actually managing to crash the car hard enough to break through the guardrails.

Four decades of our entire society being set up explicitly to protect chuds from their own stupidity in every aspect of their life they actually think they're invincible and are acting like it.

It was really heroic of those guys to go kill Nazis, but it's not good to have D-Days. We should not strive for D-Day toughness. Especially anymore where you have drones, snipers, and Minecraft redstone contraptions everywhere. Like getting sober is a heroic thing to do, especially as a struggle, but never abusing alcohol in the first place would likely have been gentler on the soul. I only bring up the example to say that not having Nazis in power in the first place means not having to rouse an army to resist them and then there wouldn't be a multi-country wide, multi-generational psychological scar about having to be shot at in a boat. We'd be better off not ever having to know what it's like firsthand. I've never broken my leg and I don't need to experience it myself to understand it's something to avoid if I can help it.

And if I'm being real, if I had literally no choice, I suppose I'm capable of shitting myself in a boat, getting out, and getting shot. It's not like it's a physically demanding thing to die and if you don't then you were what? Sitting in a hole? Running up the beach with a gun? You could be part of the writhing mass of damned poor souls. But, again, what if we just didn't damn souls? That's the sad and horrible part of d-day. It's not like more masculine energy was going to deflect the bullets and explosions

not having Nazis in power in the first place

But have you considered that nazism happened in a vacuum with zero material causes and nobody could've stopped it especially not the western powers who would never have been complacent or even sympathetic to them for being anti-communist

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Hitler fell out of the sky in January 1933 and hypnotized all the Germans into supporting him with his magical oratory ability. When he died in 1945 the mind control spell broke and they all went back to being wholesome citizens :) There’s no need to look into postwar polls of Germans, if you google it you are helping Russia.

Oh please, you really think the US would just go around funding violent right wingers just because they're anti-communist?

Like getting sober is a heroic thing to do, especially as a struggle, but never abusing alcohol in the first place would likely have been gentler on the soul.

Pete Kegsbreath called the fuck out for not having a soul in the first place

TNT cannon the nazis

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 30 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This has to be satire or bait or something. I just can't imagine someone saying that genuinely.

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

you haven't spent enough time around hogs

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

No they're genuinely this stupid

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You know what?

Good

Makes things a little bit easier when the time comes

They send a entire battalion to attack during a tornado because "They'd never expect it"

And he's saying this for a sport game lmao

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I like a good football match, but jesus christ, it's not like there isn't fifty of them a week

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

Yeah and sports are not that serious. Dudes be talking bout they miss the days where there were less rules and dudes fouled each other like it was a fight. This makes no sense to me. If you want a fight lace the gloves up get in the ring not cheapshots

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

WW3 will be fought by generals who think they'll be remember like WW2 generals but will in fact be remembered like WW1 generals
