That took me longer than it should have...

Early human lifestyle was a bit more complex than what you see from the average rodent. More accurately, the human brain is "designed" to gather berries, chase megafauna with spears and hang out with your extended family all day every day.

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The human brain has progressed far beyond that at this point in time though. This is why everybody states that their computer is running slow because their brain is running faster than that computer than they are using even though it's running in mirror seconds the brain is still working faster.

Computers are extremely fast, they're just dumb in different ways than our brains!

[–] xx3rawr@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

nah it's all the fucking javascript

[–] sentient_loom@sh.itjust.works 20 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm not a rodent. My brain was designed to build empires and then create complex criticisms of those empires.

[–] jared@mander.xyz 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think there's a higher level problem going on.

Empire is built on suffering and exploitation.

[–] sentient_loom@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That doesn't change the fact that our brains naturally build empires and also critique them. In fact you're doing the 2nd part right now. We're high concept apes, and brutal animals, but also with a sense of justice and compassion. Things things (and more!) are all jammed into our brains. Contradictions be damned. But our brains were not "designed" to just "eat berries in a cave."

hey! back to the ledger farm with you!

My brain was designed to excel

Mine was designed with a drearier outlook

So guys

I discovered that autistic burnout is a thing.

You know because suddenly you need to rest your head from all the stress and it ends up being a 5 hour nap that you clearly feel better after then... Sleep just as well

[–] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Autistic recovery is also a thing.

Sleep well. Do it for a few weeks. Get yourself right.

Come back, and you’ve got the vigor to fight 5 GOP pedos. We can use our autism powers together to take this shit down. Let’s let’s make sure we get an abundance of rest between bouts.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's way more than just the pedefacists I'm processing, but I have no chance unless I get this together.

I got a balance being a father and the income provider to, so it's probably going to be a little bit before I figure it out. I don't also know how long ive been in this burnout

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I've been in a very similar situation for a decade and a half or so, at this point. It ebbs and flows like a motherfucker. You really do have to trust yourself when you feel you're spread too thin. But even that is easy to say, but hard to do anything about sometimes.

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Sleep appears to process all the information that we learnt during the day. It tries to throw away the useless stuff and update out neurons with the important stuff.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 days ago

Oh im saving this one for when I need it most
