Image is of the Freedom Band performing at the end of the Second National Congress of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, sourced from this article. The same article contains most of the information used in the preamble below.

A little over a week ago, the Socialist Movement of Ghana concluded its second National Delegates Congress in Aburi, gathering 300 delegates from across the country. There, they deepened their commitment to the working class of Ghana and committed to intensifying political education and organization at the grassroots. The SMG itself decided to not electorally contest the 2024 elections in Ghana, but still presented a manifesto, and nonetheless managed to get two SMG members parliamentary seats in the National Democratic Congress.

Anyway, back to the National Delegates Congress: the delegates agreed that the Western imperialist system is now under a profound crisis, in which the likely future is a heightening of brutality, chaos, and resource plundering - a future which must be resisted and organized against.

To summarize their various statements and condemnations:

  • Inside Ghana: a commitment to women's rights, youth empowerment, and environmental protection.
  • A condemnation of the resource plundering of the Democratic Republic of the Congo by imperialist powers.
  • A salute to the people of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, in their campaign against outside imperial control in the Sahel.
  • A condemnation of Morocco's illegal occupation of the Western Sahara, and a call for the UN to identify the independence of the Sahwari people.
  • A strong condemnation of Israel's genocidal atrocities and massive terrorist operations against nearby countries, and support for Palestinian independence.
  • Support for the people of Haiti against outside imperial domination.
  • A call for the end of the blockade on Cuba and their removal from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
  • Solidarity with Maduro and the people of Venezuela against the United States.
  • A rejection of all imperialist aggression and sanctions against Iran.
  • A condemnation of NATO's decades-long military expansion eastwards towards Russia, especially as it has now resulted in massive devastation and risks a third world war.
  • And finally, a commitment to Pan Africanism and international solidarity with all oppressed peoples around the world.

A platform I think we all can agree to!

Pope Leo XIV says those against abortion but in favor of death penalty are "not really pro-life" - CBS News

Article

For the first time since being elected in May, Pope Leo XIV waded into U.S. politics, criticizing those who say they're against abortion but support the death penalty, saying that's "not really pro-life."

Leo, a Chicago native, was asked late Tuesday about plans by Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich to give a lifetime achievement award to Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin for his work helping immigrants. The plans drew objection from some conservative U.S. bishops, given the powerful Democratic senator's support for abortion rights.

Leo called first of all for respect for both sides, but he also pointed out the seeming contradiction in such debates.

"Someone who says 'I'm against abortion but says I am in favor of the death penalty' is not really pro-life," Leo told reporters. "Someone who says that 'I'm against abortion, but I'm in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States,' I don't know if that's pro-life."

Leo, whose words echoed a common Catholic argument often made in discussions about abortion, spoke hours before Cupich announced that Durbin had declined the award.

"I am not terribly familiar with the particular case. I think it's important to look at the overall work that a senator has done during, if I'm not mistaken, in 40 years of service in the United States Senate," the pope told reporters on Tuesday in response to a question from EWTN News.

In his comments about the Illinois dispute, Leo made no mention of President Trump, whose administration has carried out a surge of immigration enforcement in the Chicago area.

Still, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt weighed in and disputed concerns raised by Pope Leo about the treatment of immigrants, saying that she "would reject there is inhumane treatment of illegal immigrants in the United States under this administration."

The administration, Leavitt said, "is trying to enforce our nation's laws in the most humane way possible."

Church teaching forbids abortion, but it also opposes capital punishment as "inadmissible" under all circumstances. U.S. bishops and the Vatican have strongly called for humane treatment of migrants, citing the Biblical command to "welcome the stranger."

Responding to a question in English from the U.S. Catholic broadcaster EWTN News, the pope said there were many ethical issues that constitute the teaching of the Catholic Church.

"I don't know if anyone has all the truth on them but I would ask first and foremost that there be greater respect for one another and that we search together both as human beings, in that case as American citizens or citizens of the state of Illinois, as well as Catholics to say we need to you know really look closely at all of these ethical issues and to find the way forward in this church. Church teaching on each one of those issues is very clear," he said.

Cupich was a close adviser to Pope Francis, who strongly upheld church teaching opposing abortion but also criticized the politicizing of the abortion debate by U.S. bishops. Some bishops had called for denying Communion to Catholic politicians who supported abortion rights, including former President Joe Biden.

Biden met on several occasions with Francis and told reporters in 2021 that Francis had told him to continue receiving Communion. During a visit to Rome that year, he received the sacrament during Mass at a church in Francis' diocese.

Durbin was barred from receiving Communion in his home diocese of Springfield in 2004. Springfield Bishop Thomas Paprocki has continued the prohibition and was one of the U.S. bishops who strongly objected to Cupich's decision to honor the senator. Cupich claims Durbin as a member of the Chicago Archdiocese, where Durbin also has a home.

In his statement announcing that Durbin would decline the award, Cupich lamented that the polarization in the U.S. has created a situation where U.S. Catholics "find themselves politically homeless" since neither the Republican nor the Democratic party fully encapsulates the breadth of Catholic teaching.

He defended honoring Durbin for his pro-immigration stance, and said the planned Nov. 3 award ceremony could have been an occasion to engage him and other political leaders with the hope of pressing the church's view on other issues, including abortion.

"It could be an invitation to Catholics who tirelessly promote the dignity of the unborn, the elderly, and the sick to extend the circle of protection to immigrants facing in this present moment an existential threat to their lives and the lives of their families," Cupich wrote.

Paprocki, for his part, thanked Durbin for declining the award. "I ask that all Catholics continue to pray for our church, our country, and for the human dignity of all people to be respected in all stages of life, including the unborn and immigrants," Paprocki said in a Facebook post.

The talks of the US doing regime change in Venezuela are ramping up. I'm getting deja vu

[–] Redcuban1959@hexbear.net 29 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

I still don't think they will invade yet (but when it comes to Trump, who knows what he's going to do next), the US has deployed 4.000 soldiers. When they invaded Panama (A country they had a colony literally inside), they deployed 26.000, and Manuel Noriega was infamously known as a CIA asset gone rogue. I think they want to pressure Maduro and the Venezuelan goverment into making a deal with them, by bombing and doing attacks near the Venezuelan border. Even if they kill Maduro, the VP or Diosdado, the Armed Forces (the Hardliner faction within the revolution) will take over control and continue being hostile towards the USA.

We also have to remember this is the man who stopped at Crimea in 2014 and later signed Minsk. He basically had to be begged to intervene between 2014-2022. He's a product of material reality hitting a neolib hard and being kicked out of the west.

I wonder what his successor's trajectory would be. As long as Putin doesn't fuck the bag up on the SMO that is and send us back to 2014.

Today, Maxwell House rebrands to “Maxwell Apartment” to meet the needs of today’s consumer and remind fans the brand is synonymous with great tasting, affordable coffee. “We are seeing more operations right now in Gaza City than we have seen at any point in the last year and a half, anywhere”

This was Jon Elmer earlier today, leading off his Resistance Report on Electronic Intifada’s live stream. I am once again begging you all, if you are feeling any doomerism at all about Palestine, please watch Jon’s report. Palestine will be freed and when they are, it won’t be from sanctions placed on Israel by western governments or things like that; it will come down the bravery and determination of those who are fighting in armed struggle against their colonizers.

Edit: to clarify, Jon is referring to operations by the Resistance, not the IOF.

Danish news update.

Unions Raise Alarm Over Reckless Deregulation for Ukrainian Arms Factory

Denmark's Social Democrat-led right-wing regime is poised to suspend a vast body of its own laws to fast-track a Ukrainian arms factory on its soil, going to great lengths to support the Kiev regime, even at the cost of Danish workers' rights and environmental safety.

The planned facility for the Ukrainian company "Fire Point," located near the city of Haderslev, will produce fuel for long-range "Flamingo" cruise missiles capable of striking civilian and military targets deep into Russian territory. To expedite the process, the regime is invoking special powers it recently granted itself to bypass core regulations, including major parts of Danish workplace safety, environmental protection and planning laws.

"This is making a mockery of Danish legislation and the rights the labor movement has fought for," said Kim Hauborg, Chairman of the Danish Trade Union Confederation in Southern Jutland. The metalworkers' union, Dansk Metal, has issued a scathing hearing response, warning that the move makes it "completely impossible" for safety authorities to enforce standards, creating a "major legal problem."

The list of suspended laws is staggering, covering everything from the handling of explosive materials and flammable substances to waste management and Natura 2000 habitat protections. The regime has also abolished the public's right to appeal decisions related to the project.

While Troels Lund Poulsen, the powerful head of the Nordic hermit kingdom's Liberal Party-controlled Ministry of Defence, has offered vague assurances that safety will not be compromised, unions remain deeply skeptical. The creation of a legal black hole for a foreign arms manufacturer, they argue, signals a dangerous subordination of Danish sovereignty and welfare to the unpredictable and escalating proxy war in Ukraine.

Copenhagen Union Branch Speaks Out Against Regime War Fever

While the Danish political elite speaks with a single, hawkish voice in favor of massive rearmament, a small, dissident voice is being raised by the Copenhagen branch of the fledgling nation's largest union 3F who is attempting to resurrect a seemingly forgotten cause: peace.

In a country where military spending is set to triple by 2030, the union's campaign for "negotiation and diplomacy" as an alternative to war and arms trafficking to Ukraine is a fringe movement, largely ignored by the mainstream and even the leadership of its own national union.

"We are up against politicians who only know one answer: Rearmament, rearmament, rearmament," said John Ekebjærg-Jakobsen, the chairman of 3F Copenhagen, in a statement that contrasts sharply with the national mood. He described the relentless military buildup as a threat to both social welfare and peace, a view that finds little traction in a media landscape dominated by alarmist rhetoric about the claimed Russian threat.

Another union voice critical of the militaristic frenzy is 3F chief economist Frederik I. Pedersen who recently together with other leading economists published a critique of the ballooning military expenses and the murky and incoherent messaging from the regime regarding funding, spending and likely consequences for the national economy.

3F Copenhagen's stance of solidarity with Gaza and opposition to the genocide has also drawn external criticism, despite being supported by rank and file membership.

Regime Have Trust In Police Leadership Despite Systemic Negligence

A widening scandal within the Danish police, revealing systemic negligence and a cynical disregard for victims, forced Peter Hummelgaard, the head of Denmark's Social Democrat-controlled Ministry of Justice, into a humiliating parliamentary hearing, where he offered weak excuses for a justice system in crisis.

Whistleblowers from within the police have revealed a widespread practice of "case washing", closing investigations, including serious ones like stalking and major fraud, without any meaningful inquiry. This is done, they say, on direct orders from management desperate to clear backlogs and present a facade of efficiency.

It has been revealed that the police in Copenhagen had an official policy of not even opening cases for stalking, instead redirecting victims to apply for restraining orders. In another instance, the East Jutland police closed a case concerning an elderly man swindled out of RMB 205,000 within 24 hours, only reopening it after the victim's family conducted their own investigation.

Hummelgaard, facing a storm of criticism in parliament, has offered feeble excuses, claiming he still has "trust" in the police leadership despite the overwhelming evidence of systemic mismanagement and negligence. His promises of more funding and future reviews have done little to assuage public anger, with opposition politicians accusing the government of presiding over a collapse of the legal system. For ordinary Danes, the message is clear: their state cannot, or will not, protect them.

Drone Panic Exposes Government Vulnerability and Incompetence

A wave of panic has gripped Denmark's political elite following a series of mysterious drone sightings near critical airports and military bases, leading to chaotic shutdowns and exposing the regime's inability to secure its own airspace. The incident has severely damaged public trust in Danish leader Mette Frederiksen, whose dramatic declaration of the "most serious attack" on Danish infrastructure was followed by days of confusion and a failure to identify the perpetrators.

Experts have mocked the grandiose promise of an European "drone wall" as a utopian fantasy, with drone researcher Andreas Graae noting the concept is a "fantasy of total protection", a throwback to the Cold War or the zionist "Iron Dome", that is useless against modern, agile drones. The fumbled response has been an embarrassment to the regime, with state media saying that those who mock or criticise the official response is helping the Russians succeed in their nefarious plans to make Danish authorities look foolish.

While Danish officials and regime-loyal media, lacking any concrete evidence, have been quick to imply Russian involvement, Moscow has categorically and repeatedly denied any role, dismissing the accusations as "absurd speculation."

Independent analysts suggest the incidents could just as easily be the work of provocateurs or a deliberate false-flag operation designed to cause panic justifying continued western support for the US-Russian proxy war in Ukraine. The failure of Frederiksen's regime to provide answers, instead retreating into vague talk of a "new reality" of hybrid warfare it is ill-equipped to handle, has only deepened the sense of a nation adrift and poorly governed.

Political Establishment Rages Against Ex-Biker's Council Bid

The local political elite in the city of Odense has erupted in unified outrage after a former Hell's Angels member and convicted murderer declared his candidacy for the Odense city council with a populist message of holding "power-hungry politicians" accountable.

Jørn "Jønke" Nielsen, who served a 16-year sentence for the 1984 murder of the leader of the rival "Bullshit" outlaw biker gang, is running with his self-founded party, "Stable Democracy." His platform, which also calls for an end to foreign wars, relaxing public debt collection measures and placing solar panels on buildings instead of in fields, has been met not with democratic debate, but with a chorus of condemnation from figures across the local political establishment.

The city's regime-loyal mayor, Peter Rahbæk Juel from the Social Democratic party, immediately sought legal ways to bar Nielsen from running, while a candidate from the Liberal Party demanded he be shown the "red card" and ignored. This coordinated effort to sideline a man who has legally served his sentence exposes the deep-seated intolerance of the Danish political elite for any voice outside their consensus.

While commentators dismiss his chances, they acknowledge that his notoriety and anti-establishment rhetoric could tap into a vein of popular discontent with the political class. The furious reaction suggests the authorities are less concerned with his past crimes than with his present message—a direct challenge to their grip on power and their unflinching support for controversial policies, including overseas military engagements. For his part, Nielsen remains defiant, telling reporters, "We are coming to keep an eye on greedy and power-hungry politicians."

Please, everyone, if you can read this, you can leave a comment on the post linked above. Some words of kindness for a family resisting an ongoing genocide.

It can be simple, you can send solidarity and love, tell them the you support them, tell them you hope for their safety! I know you all feel empathy for them! I believe anyone who can upbear this can also express it in the linked post and help lift the spirits of Soliman and his family. If your financial situation allows, you can donate to help them survive.

If not, just leave a comment from the heart, and do what you can to support the cause in other ways. Volunteer, protest, organize by joining local solidarity groups. Solidarity is an act of love, an act of revolutionary defiance of the state of things and they are, and the true basis for progress towards a better world.

FIFA president says football association cannot solve geopolitical problems

Gianni Infantino has sought to sidestep criticism that the global football governing body has refused to suspend Israel over atrocities in Gaza, despite suspending Russia after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“At FIFA, we are committed to using the power of football to bring people together in a divided world,” Infantino told a FIFA Council meeting in Zurich, adding that the association cannot solve geopolitical issues.

“Our thoughts are with those who are suffering in the many conflicts that exist around the world today, and the most important message that football can convey right now is one of peace and unity.”

What about your ban on the Russians then, you piece of shit?

New video of an operation from September 29th which (per zionist sources) killed two, injuring nine

“Yesterday afternoon, Monday, Al-Qassam fighters managed to raid a gathering of "israeli" enemy soldiers and vehicles inside the "Rosary Sisters School" in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Gaza City. Our fighters opened fire from point-blank range towards the "israeli" enemy soldiers, killing and wounding them. A number of our fighters also threw several thermobaric charges inside two zionist military personnel carriers at the site, killing and wounding their crews. Additionally, a "Merkavah" tank was detonated with a "Guerrilla Action" explosive device, and our fighters observed the landing of helicopter aircraft for evacuation.”

Venezuelan S-125 Pechora-2M/SA-3 Goa surface to air missile systems/air defence systems are on the move (utilising public highways) to Carabobo, from the Military Academy of the Bolivarian Aviation located close by in Aragua. Venezuela was assessed to be in possession of 44 batteries of the system by the International Institute for Strategic Studies as of 2024, their most numerous air defence system. These are modernised versions of retired Soviet era S-125 stockpiles designed for sale to export customers. Most notably, the S-125/SA-3 was the system that shot down an F-117 Nighthawk stealth aircraft over Yugoslavia in 1999, the only known shoot down of a stealth aircraft to date. I'd say a repeat event is very unlikely (explaining why is another comment in of itself), but anything is possible.

What's the odds here? This last week's I've seen folks discuss them potentially trying...

💥 Iran 2.0 💥 Afghanistan 3.0 💥 Venezuela 2.0 💥 China 2.0 💥 Russia 1.0

Is there a fixed target or just some confusion tactics?

^(nb numbers probs inaccurate)^

All is possible except for a direct attack on Russia or China I would say, maybe more weapons deliveries to Ukraine of long range missiles.

With Iran, Israel can carry out strikes "on its own", with Afghanistan certain assets (KC-135RTs, AC-130s, A-10s) are in place in Europe and Qatar that could be quickly mobilised. In Venezuela the lack of strategic depth (key oil facilities and forward military bases on hard to defend islands, capital 15km from the coast, one centralised airbase where the most valuable air defence assets and fighters are located) is a big issue that any US operation would take advantage of, everything necessary is in place. There are of course a lot of standard rotations and deliveries as well that people are misinterpreting.

There are elements of confusion and ambiguity, I think Afghanistan was seriously worried that an attack was about to kick off when the internet was shut down. Iran is also obviously concerned. And Venezuela are mobilising what they have in case of airstrikes.

May they claim many kills if the US genocidal entity decides to go in.

I wonder when we are finally going to see sanctions on Israhell, because I don’t think any country has done so (besides like North Korea)

DPRK is the only nation we can rely on to not have to be pressured to do what's right by their populace. Instead they just do it. It's just assumed from the outset they have the correct position.

Venezuela denounces and condemns in the strongest terms the cowardly act of piracy carried out by Israeli occupation forces against the Freedom Flotilla on October 1, 2025.

This military boarding in international waters exposes, once again, the criminal nature of the Zionist regime, which attacks a civilian and peaceful mission whose sole purpose was to bring 5,500 tons of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people subjected to hunger and extermination.

The blockade of humanitarian aid is a deliberate tool of war, the continuation of genocide by other means, seeking to annihilate the population through starvation to complement their indiscriminate bombings.

It is miserable and grotesque that those who perpetrate televised ethnic cleansing dare to describe ships loaded with food and hope as a “threat to security.”

The only real threat to world peace is Zionism, a colonialist and apartheid ideology that systematically violates international law and human decency.

Our unwavering solidarity is with the heroic Palestinian people and with the brave men and women who, risking their own safety, keep the flame of humanity alive in the face of Nazi-fascist darkness.
