Image is of the Freedom Band performing at the end of the Second National Congress of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, sourced from this article. The same article contains most of the information used in the preamble below.

A little over a week ago, the Socialist Movement of Ghana concluded its second National Delegates Congress in Aburi, gathering 300 delegates from across the country. There, they deepened their commitment to the working class of Ghana and committed to intensifying political education and organization at the grassroots. The SMG itself decided to not electorally contest the 2024 elections in Ghana, but still presented a manifesto, and nonetheless managed to get two SMG members parliamentary seats in the National Democratic Congress.

Anyway, back to the National Delegates Congress: the delegates agreed that the Western imperialist system is now under a profound crisis, in which the likely future is a heightening of brutality, chaos, and resource plundering - a future which must be resisted and organized against.

To summarize their various statements and condemnations:

  • Inside Ghana: a commitment to women's rights, youth empowerment, and environmental protection.
  • A condemnation of the resource plundering of the Democratic Republic of the Congo by imperialist powers.
  • A salute to the people of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, in their campaign against outside imperial control in the Sahel.
  • A condemnation of Morocco's illegal occupation of the Western Sahara, and a call for the UN to identify the independence of the Sahwari people.
  • A strong condemnation of Israel's genocidal atrocities and massive terrorist operations against nearby countries, and support for Palestinian independence.
  • Support for the people of Haiti against outside imperial domination.
  • A call for the end of the blockade on Cuba and their removal from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
  • Solidarity with Maduro and the people of Venezuela against the United States.
  • A rejection of all imperialist aggression and sanctions against Iran.
  • A condemnation of NATO's decades-long military expansion eastwards towards Russia, especially as it has now resulted in massive devastation and risks a third world war.
  • And finally, a commitment to Pan Africanism and international solidarity with all oppressed peoples around the world.

A platform I think we all can agree to!

The Zionist Entity's Genocide of Palestine

If you have evidence of Zionist crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Occasional reminder that Putin bad, despite fighting Great Satan.

He blames the current state of Europe on mass migration eroding their "identity" cringe

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 10 points 17 hours ago

Putin knows very well that this creates division in his opponent while also creating a faction that is pro-russia on account of the cultural conservatism.

Sadly not at all a “controversial” view even amongst the developing world itself.

I was kinda blackpilled this week because for about 48 hours before the National Day, I had to witness the spontaneous eruption of a rare collective anger of the Chinese netizens over a perceived/imagined “mass immigration policy” of the new K visa open to foreign talents.

Somehow, fearmongering rumors spread on the internet that Indians will take advantage of the new K visa to flood the country and what followed was unfettered racism and xenophobia on a scale I’ve never seen before, pointing to what happened in the West and how that (and LGBT culture, duh) is causing the “fall of Western civilization” (casual and latent racism especially against Indians has been widespread, but still I’ve never seen anything like this before)

The government had to step in for damage control. Turns out you can’t even apply at any of the cities in India with Chinese consulates, which helped quelled a lot of the anger on the internet. But for about 48 hours, I saw the true colors of what many Chinese people think about “mass immigration”.

There are a lot of underlying anxieties here that we can dissect, maybe I’ll make a separate comment about it.

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 9 points 17 hours ago

China needs a lot more Marxist education than I thought. I figured a communist country with actual Marxist colleges and controlled media would be able to easily explain to the people the true causes of the fall of Western civilization being the inevitable failings of neoliberalism brought on by the contradictions of past phases of capitalism.

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 12 points 20 hours ago

Myself and my lgbt comrades would like to take personal responsibility for the collapse of western imperialism, you can thank me later, or now, now is good too

in my experience the loudest voices online are often fringe weirdos who do not represent some silent majority despite what they'd tell you, but that is obviously concerning and frustrating. Western media love to latch onto these kinds of dorks too, I saw a couple of articles about here's what ~~racists~~ netizens had to say about K visas, quality reporting

[–] Lisitsyn@hexbear.net 12 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

What does putin even believe in? One minute hhearte says this bs and the other he goes around preaching about how great and multicultural russia is. He seems to just say whatever is convenient and will help him the most, truly an opportunist at heart

[–] companero@hexbear.net 10 points 20 hours ago

Too history-brained. He thinks Russia's multiculturalism is only good because it has existed for hundreds of years.

Plain old skin color racism surely plays a part as well.

He is still trying to do the "conservatives are oppressed" narrative when most of the west is already entering higher stages of fascism? Get with the times old man.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 11 points 21 hours ago

Well he has been doing the "christians are the true oppressed people" since the bush years

[–] hello_hello@hexbear.net 46 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We also have to remember this is the man who stopped at Crimea in 2014 and later signed Minsk. He basically had to be begged to intervene between 2014-2022. He's a product of material reality hitting a neolib hard and being kicked out of the west.

I wonder what his successor's trajectory would be. As long as Putin doesn't fuck the bag up on the SMO that is and send us back to 2014.

[–] RaspberryTuba@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago (10 children)

Hexbear needs to fuck off with leaning this hard into whatever this is. Putin’s actions in Ukraine were and are bad. The site as a whole was outright shocked when he invaded in 2022, and now we’re here?

[–] RaspberryTuba@hexbear.net 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Replying to myself because the rest would just be copy and paste.

How is the death of hundreds of thousands in what’s mostly a stalemate better than the alternate realities? And also, given that the original conflict was tiny, explain to me how this improved it.

We’re supposed to be in support of the people. How is this shit supposed to help them in any way, and how is this shit even the least bit materialist?

(I know where this came from)

[–] WildWeezing420@hexbear.net 16 points 20 hours ago

Putin’s worst action in Ukraine was waiting 8 years for the Nazis to build up instead of destroying them in 2014

[–] hello_hello@hexbear.net 22 points 22 hours ago

Any socialist government would have invaded Ukraine in 2014, the writing was on the wall with how banderites were invading all aspects of civil and cultural life, Putin was being extremely liberal.

Also the US already admitted that the Ukrainian intervention was an attempt at Russian regime change and we have troves of analysis on how Ukraine was the death kneel to any remaining EU sovereignty and checks against the US as fuel-caused austerity goes into effect as the EU deindustrializes.

[–] xiaohongshu@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

No this is revisionist.

You are pretending as though Ukraine didn’t outright dismissed the Minsk Agreements and let NATO militarize for over 8 years while Putin waited, that Russia didn’t repeatedly ask the US to resolve the security issue in Ukraine through diplomacy (that’s what the US-Russia Summit in Geneva in June 2021 was all about) only to be repeatedly and outright ignored by the US while weapons continued to be sent to Ukraine, that Ukrainian Nazis did not continue to assault upon and ethnically cleanse the Russian people in the Donbass region, that the Ukraine military wasn’t planning on recapturing the lost territories after the civil war through military means.

If anything, Putin waited too long.

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 10 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

The site as a whole was outright shocked when he invaded in 2022, and now we’re here

And zero lessons have been learnt.

Don't listen to the words of world leaders, even the words of those in countries opposed to the west. They aren't worth much of anything.

Watch actions, not words.

[–] Boise_Idaho@hexbear.net 3 points 16 hours ago

Don't listen to the words of world leaders, even the words of those in countries opposed to the west. They aren't worth much of anything.

Me holding all my Ws for not getting hyped over any speech, conference, forum, or talk that Putin is a part of.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 39 points 1 day ago

LOL excuse me, ukrainian nazi squads literally went around and murdered russophone & communist citizens of ukraine. They are literally even the most nazi-ridden, pro-israel state in europe at the moment, yes that says something. Putin invading ukraine was his best act ever.

[–] CascadeOfLight@hexbear.net 34 points 1 day ago

Luhansk is no longer being bombed and Mariupol is no longer occupied by nazi militias. Despite Putin dragging his heels for almost a decade, the unstoppable bloodlust of the west eventually forced him to do the right thing.

[–] Staines@hexbear.net 29 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I was shocked because the west was saying there were "150,000" troops built up on the border, when Russia would have needed triple that for starters before initiating a vaguely successful invasion. Morally, invading Ukraine was the right choice to rescue Donbas. Militarily, it was half cocked.

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I wasn't shocked, despite not being on hexbear yet, and I don't think trying to deal in "good or bad" is really a Marxist position.

Ultimately Russia made the smart move instead of waiting for fully established NATO bases on their border with Ukraine. Preemptively striking your enemy as they blatantly are preparing for war with you is not a bad move.

Initiating the conflict has been very useful for the enemies of imperialism, burning through NATO stockpiles and cash, sharpening contradictions and building unsustainable economic pressure. Not to mention the Nazis from around the world who have rushed to die in Ukraine, it's like a fly trap for fascists who would otherwise be in their respective nations organizing for fascism. It also proved the western sanctions regime has limits and pushed the entire global south further from the US.

Not to mention how much extra support Israel would have right now if so much wasn't going to Ukraine.

So no, having a material analysis is not bad, it is actually Marxism, and having a clear headed view of the situation isn't the same as praising the actors involved or supporting all their decisions, beliefs, or aspirations.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 1 day ago

It isnt, in fact the usage of "good & bad" just once again shows the idealism and christian brainworms still present in many of our comrades.

Both very good points. Right now ironically, russia is ending more nazis and fascists worldwide (except for maybe the Palestinians and Yemenis) than anyone else.

Please you all need to read Materialism & empiric-critism.

Had no problem putting "identity eroding immigrants" in the frontlines though.... Especially those of central asian origins.
