We measure lots of things in grams in the US, like weed and psychedelic mushrooms
Not ounces? I heard people say quarter, or half, etc. when referring to both mushrooms and weed.
Terrifying enough it is both. You measure in grams as a fraction of ounces until you get to an ounce and then you measure in those until you get to pounds unless its so much that you move back to kilograms.
Joint = 1 gram
1/8th = 3.5 grams
1/2 = 14 grams

Please don't insult the noble gram by comparing it the filthy ounce. It won't help anyway. You have to use objects. Just tell them the pot weighed about 3 decks of poker cards, was about a slimjim in diameter and had a volume capacity of a medium bottle of coke.
