it's the only planet that has cats

Prove it

Honestly. What are the chances that in the entire universe, there is no ecosystem that has led to the evolution of an organism indistinguishable from our Earth cats?

We havent found a second one that supports life long term. Unless they're all getting filtered after life occurs and we just weren't looking when it happened: they probably are not.

Crabs though...

I don't think we're capable of looking very far afield, to be fair. Space is pretty big. I read that somewhere.

All the answers here are pretty fucking grim.

The only planet we know of that has cats

[–] Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I reckon there is an all cat planet. Maybe even one where cats have domesticated filthy humans

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Let's hope so

[–] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Also the only planet that has parasitic wasps 😐

[–] primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 11 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Not as adorable as cats, but still worth a couple points–I guess.

They're a little cute–not enough to ever be in the same sentence as a cat.

I'm sorry but they're just not as adorable as cats. I don't think anything is. I cannot understand your irrational love of parasitic wasps.

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I have an irrational hate for parasitic wasps

[–] primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Then why the fuck do you think they're more adorable than cats!?

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I meant I don't think they're even a little cute :3

[–] primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

But still cuter than cats? You're an awful person.

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No, cats are very cute. We might be hitting some language barrier

That must be it. English doesnt really have simple ways to equate the cuteness of kitties and parasitic wasps such that kitties aren't obviously better.

it's the only planet that has cats

Yet.

I am pretty sure we will get space cats as soon as space travel is normalized for everyday people.

I'm now imagining a cat astronaut ~~jumping~~ napping on the moon.

That we know of:

[–] Speiser0@feddit.org 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

This is also a strong protection against invasion from aliens. (There was a manga about this but I can't find it anymore.)

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

True, this is also why Minecraft creepers, which are inspired by aliens, run away from cats.

[–] Speiser0@feddit.org 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They are? Isn't it just a failed pig? https://minecraft.wiki/w/Creeper#History

Also, the aliens don't run away from the cats. They're overwhelmed by the cats' cuteness.

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 weeks ago

More specifically they are pigs with the body axis flipped.

But so are aliens:

Wait, you telling me you think cats don't just go to a random planet & decide they now live there??

That doesn't seem like (physics-non-abiding) cat behaviour at all.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

honestly, my cats are a big anchor for my mental health hehehehe

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

This is Kzinti erasure.
